Depending on your computer type and configuration, the 3x parts courtesy of Auto Express should enlarge when clicked, if too small to read.

It is July 2014.   6 1/4 months into 2014.

'City car of the first half of 2014' might be more accurate. Or so far.

What is Wrong with doing their awards thing after the year is through?

i take it no car is going to come out this year to blow the Skoda out of the water like a Renault Twingo.

we will be getting told what is the 'Best City Car 2015' sometime around October 2014 i expect.

Apparently, Auto Express worked with what is available right now and annouced the results of their efforts last night just after 10pm (15th July 2014).  I'm reliably informed that Prof Mirza and Eva Petulengro aren't part of the team who decided which cars would win which awards in which category.  I think the main point is that at this juncture the (approximately) 2 year-old Skoda Citigo beat the brand new Hyundai i10 and the brand new Toyota Aygo/Citroen C1/Peugot 108?

The Auto Express Awards have over 25 different categories but the overall 2014 Car of the Year was the brand new Mini.

They must be Derren Brown if they know that a newly released car that has had Media Cars out with some Journalist and Testers,

eg, Toyota Aygo, 'offers the same blend of reliability'

We certainly hope and expect they will be reliable, but that is not yet proven.

Citigo, Up!, Mii are showing that some have pretty unreliable traits and have snagging faults that VAG will need to address,

(gearboxes, Manual & Automated Manual possibly.)

by now they should only be sending totally sorted new cars from the Factory to the Dealers.

Most that own the likes of the New Toyota Aygo are still running them in.

People owning them & driving them for a while will tell the tale about Reliability.

Oh dear, I just posted the article and didn't envisage getting into an argument about it. :notme:  I just thought that some Citigo owners might be interested and pleased to read that their car had topped the list in that particular award category.

Is replying & posting in threads an Argument. ?

You best not come on a night out then.

Car Magazines have VAG cars topping Awards & Customer Surveys & Reliability Surveys & Customer Services Surveys all the time,

Especially Auto Express & Which Awards,  because the Volkswagen Group can do no wrong.

There are all sorts of people who post on forums and I certainly don't wish to become either the Beevee or shakotanVIP who are regularly at each other's throats on the WW up! forums.

I shall now go back to my sad daily business after having been well and truly slapped down. :S

Yes I'm glad that the car I picked, is car of the year for 2014!

I remember the Ford Focus beating newer cars in time past, and I'm sure I remeber either a fiat or Citroen winning car of the year (or in its class) yet it actually hadn't been release for sale, or wasn't until later in the year.

But I see goneoffski's point and have to agree how can you have a car of the year, half way through the year? Surely at the begining of 2014 they should have released the car of the year for 2014, and in turn 2015 the car of 2014.

Anyway once again well done SKODA!!!
