1.8T high fuel usage

Featured Replies

on sunday i did about 17miles to a 1/4 of a tank, is something wrong with my car??? :P

if you think you are getting bad economy then use no more than 1/2 throttle and change gear at about 2500 and see what sort of milage you get. should be very good driving like that :)

I have driven with climate on ECON, windows shut, trying to change below 2500 or even 2000 revs, etc, and I just refuelled with guage showing a touch under 1/2 tank. It took 21 litres having done 155 miles, and economy works out at 33.3 mpg. Now that sounds ok, which suggests ( as I believe Denis is suggesting ) that the fuel guage is behaving differently to what I expected.

In fact, having just filled up, I notice that the needle hasn't even pointed to "full" !! If the guage is biased like this, then it's very misleading. Anyone know if it's something Skoda would be able to fix, or would it be easier to just live with it?

Hmmmm what model Goochie, as mine is currently in 150Bhp mode (hence my name). Mines the L&K, hoping to have custom code 2 once i get all my other plans sorted

Its an Elegance on a 51 plate.

The L&K should be good for 220bhp 'ish.

Goochie' date=' 400 miles out of the tank??? Is the tank the size of a water tank or something because that's alot of mileage out of a car with that kind of engine.

Nah...I don't think so....as I said earlier I used to get 425 out of my tank...55 litres plus whatever the vacuum expension tank holds.

I used to do at least a couple of 100 mile round trips a week on the motorway and that's what stretches out the economy.

Now doing 50 mile round trip daily on B roads and I get 360-380 from a tank.

If you "push hard" the ECU adapts and engine reacts accordingly. If you drive "normally" you will get better mpg but the engine doesn't respond as well...well not until it recognise you want to "play" and then adapts accordingly.

52 octyVRS standard (I think) brittany to caen mix of 110 and 130 kph

plymouth to cardiff mostly 70mph, on cruise for both ,45 minutes getting out of ferry terminal , 430 miles on tankfull plus range left of 15 miles showing ,

vrs did better than 2.0 ambiente estate the year before ,maybe cruise control helps but a very boring journey

In my unmapped ( as far as I know ) vRS I usually get about 300 miles from a tank. However this week I decided to see just how much I could increase this by. So driving on clear roads at between 60 and 70 mph, and boring myself sh*tless at the same time, I managed to get 420 miles out of it. I was impressed. Not just at the mpg but more that I didn't once stray over the 70mph mark in 6 hours of driving!
