Cam Shaft Position Sensor

Featured Replies

Cold - she starts within 1/2 turn of the key. After driving and say switching off for 5-10 mins she hesitates but eventually fires. VCDS says cam shaft position sensor no signal. Sound about right ?

I'm surprised it starts at all if the sensor is dead and sending no signal at all.

I had lots of starting problems on my previous 2.0PD. Cold OK, warm it frequently had to be cranked forever. But no fault codes.

Eventually however a fault code was thrown up - camshaft sensor issue.  Replaced sensor and starting issues disappeared.

If there is a fault with the cam sensor or wiring, the ecu will look to the crank sensor. The car will still run but not as good.

Check wiring, repair wiring or replace sensor if needed.

Had this with my Superb and after changing the cam sensor all was good once more. As mentioned in post 3 the car will failover to just the crank sensor once its decided the cam sensor is dead or giving misleading readings, and vice versa if the crank sensor fails. However the car will have no idea whats going on with the cam timing, hence the difficult starting when hot.
