Neuspeed 1.8T Turbo Intake Pipe

Featured Replies

HI All

Neuspeed 1.8T Turbo Intake Pipe has anyone fitted one of these?

any feedback on them?

i looked at the orginal inatke pipe and it looks very restrictive.

Thanks

Joel

The problem with these is they retain the standard rubber upper part which is the section that is prone to colapse. My preference is the Samco item that is one piece and replaces the whole thing.

Have fitted three now...2 on Octys and one on a Golf, bit of a pig to fit the large allen key bolt back in but otherwise a worthwhile investment.

Are you sure you talking about the same thing eddy?

im talking about the metal pipe on the side of the turbo... sounds like your talking about the pipe that connects to this..

PIV i can see it will be a pig what diffrence did you feel/notice?

Thanks

Joel

Yes we are talking about the same thing, that's my point, the samco item replaces the metal part that attaches the turbo and the rubber part that attaches to this. It goes all the way from the MAF to the turbo.

Here's pics so you can see the difference:

If you do a search on vortex you'll find that lots of people changed from the neuspeed item to the samco one.

Yes...he is....Samco TIP is a one piece silicone pipe which goes all the way from the turbo to MAF housing.....with the normal metal replacement TIP you just replace existing TIP....with Samco you have to take all connections off the rubber hose and plug into the Samco item.

It's apparently a bit of a bugger to fit at the turbo end though....as if the normal replacement isn't.

Price used to be around

All TIP's are hard to fit at the turbo end, don't think the samco is any worse TBH.

Edited to remove useless link.

Ignore my link that's boost hoses! Not woke up yet, sorry.

oh right thanks for clearing that up you probably guessed i thought the pipe eddy was talking about connected to the metal pipe.... do you know how the samco pipe fits at the turbo end? obviously the Neuspeed one bolts on to the turbo...

do you think its a worth while mod?

thanks

Joel

IIRC...you use a jublilee clip or something similar....pipe goes over turbo inlet and jubilee clip holds it.

Not much space down there..be prepared for grazed knuckles and much cursing. ;)

I think the samco TIP uses a large Jubille clip.

The standard TIP isn't 'that' restrictive but it's a cheap enough mod if you're looking for something to do. Don't expect an increase in peak figures, however spool up is slightly improved and you can hear the turbo more.

Forge used to do em as did IP.

I thought there was a Samco site?

Forge also do them or at least did, I think JBS bought most of the stock though as they sell alot of them.

I have a ABD one that i didn't fit for long time coz everyone said it was whoore to fit but actually it wasn't all that bad at all (if ya got fat hands tho your funked)

I found it to be well worth doing and you will feel the difference staight away! turbo spools up faster and louder!!

Do you have a link for the ABD one smithy??

Thanks

Thanks for that...

i been looking on the forum and it seems that the samco pipe is not particualy liked by certain 'more experenced' octy modders....and i think id have to agree with the therory.... from what i can gather up to now is the ABD and Neuspeed TIP connect in the way that the OEM pipe does forming an extremely air tight and smooth flow plus its bolted into the turbo houseing offers a fail proof attachment method.... the samco is attached with jubilee clips and instead of being situated flush with the turbo housing sits over a lip that it is tighthed too creating a slightly less then smooth entry into the turbo...

I had mine fitted by JBS a couple months back, seem to remember a figure of

I think AMD do a metal bit that goes inside the standard hose to stop it collapsing,

I think the samco TIP uses a large Jubille clip.

Yes it does.

Darren retightened mine at JBS whilst doing my service.

Happy to look at these with you guys

what are you after ??

Ok lads, to summarize all of your findings:

(1) Which one is the best to have?

(2) Who supplies & fit's them?

(3) What are the website address's?

Need to keep this thread running, coz info is POWER
