The main thing is you need access from under the car. If you have access to a lift or a pit then you should be able to tackle it yourself.

Yes I can understand that !!!!!!!!!!!

This I ain't got so I'd rather let somebody else skin their knuckles.

Do I understand the Samco TIP part correctly, is it a ONE piece part that replaces a TWO part section. The Neuspeed TIP looks shorter!

Yep, that's right.

Yep, that's right.

So it's one less joint to go wrong then, sounds like the way to go.

well yes and no... the way the metal TIP joins to the air inlet pipe is bullet proof... the pipe sits easly an inch inside the TIP and cliped in place you woudl need horrific amounts of boost for this to fail...

I had got the impression that Samco had stopped making the pipe - one supplier (I forget which one) has removed them from their price list :(

I think it's the way I'd go - the smoothness issue at the turbo inlet ought to be offset by the overall smoother contour of the pipe, subjectively. The stock rubber part is corrugated at the top end. It's also very soft and floppy once it's done a few miles.

I'll keep my ear open hoping to pick up a group buy vibe ... :D

The part is actually designed by Forge AFAIK, it used to be made by samco exclusively for them but I believe it's now made by Silicone Pipes for Forge.

I think JBS have stock of these and have organised GB's in the past.

As you say the rubber section is the weak point and has been none to collapse, I think this is more common on the 210/225 engines but still a potential problem.

the TIP colapses in 190bhp versions when remapped too

Has anyone got any RR readouts befroe and after fitting one of these?

Well I hope I've done the right thing ????

I've booked to have the Samco/Forge TIP fitted next Friday(16th) by Forge Motorsports (5% discount quoted), 125 squids + Vodka & Tonic.

Big Boy's Toy's (Essex & local) have zilch in stock & don't expect any for a couple of months !!!!

This is being done as the first stage of a major re-vamp in the bhp department! :insane:

i thikn i saw one on the frorge web site, with the product description..

Alex WrightyRS and I fitted my Samco Tip last night (If you want a good deal speak directly to Peter @ Forge!!!). I have to say that the car spools up better now, it also seems to be even free'er at high RPM and speeds. I have also noticed that when coming off the accellerator that the dump valve isn't working as hard, so I guess there must be less back pressure which can only be good news for the turbo I suppose.

There is slightly more turbo/induction noise noticable at lower speeds when spooling up, but nothing unobtrusive.

All I can say is that after seeing the trouble Alex had getting the pipe over the turbo inlet, its one b**ch of a job. Once that bit is done then its easy to connect the rest back up !

If I remember rightly, I think the Samco hose is now made exclusively for Forge.

Hope this helps

This is all good stuff... im still swaying towards the ARB or Neuspeed metal pipe... i have just replaced my rubber air in pipe so cannot see that suffering from fatigue and colapsing any time soon..

Joel I thought you'd be first to get a bit of visible bling

Samco.JPG

Blimey  Looks like an alien form of life has infested the worp drive!

would look better in Skoda Green though.

Right then; whilst I'm at Forge, what's the krack on Turbo Diverter Valves?

Which is the best

The rev-amp stages are;

1. Suspension, Done

2. Forge TIP fitting 16/09/05

3. Forge TDV ?

4. Blue Flame Exhaust pending, date to be aranged

5. Re-map who, where, what?

i have a jabba re-map but have heard very good things about custom code via JBS though :)

both are custom maps
