Warranty advice

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Due to having zero coolant pressure in my aircon system and more than likely a leak coming from the condenser, could this be covered by a warranty claim from Skoda? I'm hoping it can! Also, my compressor isn't showing any signs of activity, would the compressor not run due to there being no coolant? I fail to see that the condenser would be considered "wear and tear", and damaged due to a design flaw more than anything (giant gap, no protection?).

Car is a 61 plate VRS TDI with 48,000 on the clock. If it is considered wear and tear, then surely all VRS's (and possibly other models), could need the condenser replaced by 45-50,000 miles? That just sounds absurd! I've found quick scan through the threads about damage to condensers, but not noticed if any were subject to warranty claims.

Many thanks guys.

I've got a 61 plate, my aircon packed in last year due to a leaking condensor.......replaced foc as apparently a manufacturing defect.

Took it into the garage this morning, and they hadn't received my booking or got a courtesy car available which I asked for. That's the first and last time I trust the online booking tool on the Skoda website! Rebooked for Friday morning with a courtesy car. See how far I get this time.

I had the same issue with booking a service recently. Luckily I was found a car and they did the job anyway. Rubbish system obviously!

Took car into garage this morning and left with a courtesy car. Got a phone call from them about half hour ago, condenser is knackered and is being replaced under warranty. Happy days!

That's good news. Can't be stone issue then I suspect.

That's good news mate, it took about half a day when they did mine, apparently they have to strip the front of the car.

A year on mines still blowing ice cold

They didn't say exactly what was wrong, and I didn't ask, was too gobsmacked when they said it was covered. I would assume it wasn't down to the usual stone damage too.

Sadly I'm unable to collect the car until a week today due to work so I'm stuck with the Roomster Scout courtesy car till then :(

I have a 61 plate Scout and have just had the condenser replaced, apparently a "known issue" relating to a manufacturing defect as "Its Me" mentioned above. A surprise to me too as they did this without complaint despite the car being slightly over 60,000 miles and technically out of warranty.

I note that there is a plastic stone guard in front of the condenser now that was not on my 57 plate 4x4 - as evidenced by that car having the condenser stone damaged 3 times!

Got a phone call this morning from the garage saying they'd sorted my car already. Surprised but thankful! I assumed they did it as a priority as they might of wanted the courtesy car back a bit quicker. Collected it with a lovely shiny new condenser fitted, kudos to Rainworth Skoda.

I have no idea how true it is, but the local dealer to me said the stone guard on the recent cars still lets stones through.

That being said, how bad are other manufactures as the more I look, the bigger the grills at the front seem to be getting wether BMW, Citreon.....
