VRs Near side knocking, drop link help

Featured Replies

Hi I have a fabia vrs and there is a knocking noise from the front passenger side I don't think its the console bush as when you give it a shove with your foot back and forth theres no play in it so I recon it could be the drop links, Anyone think otherwise?

And if so would these drop links fit VAG code:6Q0411315N

Thanks

Is your car lowered or standard ride hight?

Standard, if your wondering about shortened drop links I will be lowering it eventually but for now I don't mind spending £11 on these if they stop the knocking noise until I go lower and then look at shortened ones

Well in that case yeah that part will do the job just fine.

If you need to check any more part numbers I find this site is very useful:

Could be a ball joint or top mount....

Change the drop links first, as they're always prone to wear due to speed bumps! Plus they're cheap!

ARB mounting bushes?

Grab the drop links and try to twist or move them, you may not hear it knock doing this but they should be fairly tight and definitely not move in/out/up/down if you can twist them quite easily then it could be those that have worn. At least this was the case for me. Its a very easy job to do

When replacing them have a grinder handy lol

I wish I had a grinder at one point the nut on the first one on the offside I changed was seized on and the bolt had a slot for allen key to stop the ball turning when undoing the nut. The allen part threaded I managed to squeeze a small hacksaw behind the half a mm gap I managed to move the nut and saw the bolt off. Omg what a pain haha the new ones you can use 2 spanners. So much easier!!
