Fitting New Suspension What Might I have missed? Tips Please

Featured Replies

OK so finally orderd some new suspension parts for my 2004 Fabia VRS, so far I have,

Bilstein B12 Pro-Kit

Front Wishbone "Front & Rear" Bushes

Back Axle to Chassis Bushes

Front Top Mounts

I want a complete hall over and don't want to start and then figure out I have missed something so am wondering what else I could need

Things on my radar that I an very much considering but not entirely 100% sure about are as follows,

Upper Rear Coil Spring Mounts Bushin

TOP STRUT MOUNTING REAR

FRONT BALL JOINT

Also Drop Links, I have no idea if I will need new drop links, if so a link pointing me in the right direct would be much appreciated, plus anything else I may have missed, thanks.

FARB bushes is the only omission I can see seeing as you're at it :)

The B12 Kit on not adjustable, it lowers both front and back 25mm, will these drop link still be required and suitable?

I didn't change either of those in all honesty.

I did;

Front top mounts and bearings

New drop links

Front and rear wishbone bushes

FARB bush

In all honesty you could probably do to town on it all, but possibly not worth it if your current bits are in good working order.

So basically your saying I can skip the rear top coil and damper mounts, and ball joints, but I need FARB Bushes, and Drop Links, any tips on what Drop Links will suit then 25mm lowering?

And also this may seem a real stupid question, but will I need 2 or 4 Drop Links, hence are there Drop links on the back as well as the front?

The bushes on these cars are rubbish, so I replaced then all with Powerflex ones, I put on new drop links as I wasn't sure how low I wanted to go... At 25mm you may not need to replace yours. I don't run lowering springs so wouldn't like to say on that front, none on the back so you just need the 2 if you do replace them.

Ball joints, can't say as I left mine and don't want I tell you to do something and spend cash when you might not need to. I would only replace what needs to be changed.

Have gone for everything I can think of so far I have

Top Mounts Front and Rear

Bushers for everything except the addition RARB already installed since I have no idea of what type or size to get for that bar since I inherited the upgrade, but what the hell will not bother with those.

Drop Links for the MK1 Mondeo as recommended previously in this topic

Spring mounts

The one thing still on my rader that I am unsure about is Bump Stops, will the B12 kit need or benefit in any way from Bumstops?

You don't need shorter droplinks, just get Meyle HD standard links. B12 kit has it's own bumpstops already fitted.

I already brought the Mondeo drop links so I hope they work all right, I thought that was the case with the bump stops but just wanted to be certain, first few parts arrived the other day so its getting quite exiting, just want to be sure that I have everything possible and worth while covered ready for next weekend, my car is having a big make over by the end of this year, once this is out of the way going to look into the exhaust and intake system.
