Octavia vrs tsi oil temperature

Featured Replies

Hi Guys. I am currently in France. And today i had this strange thing where the oil And cooling temperature never went above 85 degrees. Normaly, cooling temp. Is fixed at 90 °c And oil temp. Around 100°c. I had the aircon on and the outside temperature was 25°c.

Is there a problem? I tried to contact my dealer but he is on holiday for 2 weeks so it seems.

Have you checked the oil level?

I find it hard to believe you dealers is shut for 2 week cos someone is on holiday though.....

Oil level is ok (maybe a bit too much so it seems). Cooling liquid level above min level.

My oil temp is always over 100 when on a run, has gone up to 109 or so a few times. It is pretty warm at the moment though.

When fully warmed up it is normal for the VRS TSI oil temp to hover between 105-110 degrees. The highest I have seen within my car is 112, but the oil itself will not degrade until temps reach in excess of 140deg for extended periods. Your temps are fine.

Mine also. That is why I am asking and thinking there might be a problem

Your temps seem fine. Perhaps a litttle lower than average for the oil readout but maybe VAG's sensors are not too accurate.

My anologue water guage always sits at 90deg when warmed up, and the oil is tyipically 108-109deg. Weather doesn't make much difference because the radiator fan just spins faster to keep the water cool, which in turn cools the engine and oil. In the winter the fan is just needed less.

Aircon on=fan on i guess. Could it be a somewhat faulty (leaking) thermostat in the cooling circiuit?

1.8TSI is usually 108C

My TDI vRS usually sits at 100c, that's cruising at 80-85 the highest I have seen it is 112 when I was doing a lot of hard accelerating in the country lanes.

My vrs tsi seems to have water temp gauge sat straight up and oil temp that sits between 107 and 110 when running, reaching that temperature after about 4 or 5 miles of journey start.  85 does seem low, but if you've checked oil and coolant levels are OK then I'd not worry. Just keep an eye on it.

I checked the oil level again this morning, and it was on the low side ( yesterday was with a hot engine). I added an extra half a liter. Did not drive yet, but I hope that was the problem. The journey home is planned on wednesday, no long trips before that..
