It's just a pitty it looks horrible, I'd never have that big thing in my windscreen, id want something small and compact that wouldn't block out the sun.

So do the Infra red LED's not reflect off the glass? I'm surprised at this, I might go and see if they have any left tomorrow. I'm not holding my breath though.

No I've tried it as the windscreen is raked its doesn't see the reflection

It's not that big to be honest much smaller than a satnav

It still looks cheap and big, maybe I'm just being picky but I want one that will fix to the rear of my rear view mirror and so that you can't see it that it's there from either inside or outside the car.

I have a mobious at the front of the golf and you can not see it , however I've bought 3 of these one for the rear and 2 for the octy when I get it, I agree it's not as Discrete as I would like but at least people / drivers know its on board ! , looks cheap ? In the flesh its fine :) it will record in full HD which a lot will not , just a shame the cable is short and doesn't come with 32g msd card

Short leads..... horrible looks..... no SD card.....?

You get what you pay for.....

......says he, pitifully trying to justify to himself the £180 he has just forked out for a BlackVue  :'(

Don't care if its horrible ! Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, as long as it records well I don't care you generally don't get a 5m cable with any ruddy camera ? So its a couple go quid ! Neither do you get a sd card , only if you pay £180 for it ;) that'll be in the price , if it records well and reliable ? What's the issue ? Is it because its only £39.99 ? It's not cheap by today's standards loads of cameras for £10 and do the job they where intended to do which is document an incident

It's really not that big at all, about the same footprint as a credit card but about an inch or so thick, bit wider where the lense protrudes. It's got a protective case snapped onto it but that can be dispensed of which makes it even less conspicuous. I've installed mine in the back window on a suction cup and it's really not too obvious at all, although it is more obvious than the front facing Mobius ;)

Am I right in thinking people are paying £40 for the one from Lidl when the same item is on eBay for £11 delivered (as linked by Chris earlier)?

NO! Not the same

Re-reading the thread, the one off eBay is non-HD, the one from Lidl is HD?

also the link in the OP has stopped working, no longer available from Lidl?

It was a one day special, I've connected up and the images are true HD it's nearly on par with the mobious which was more £ but the lidl one is really quiet good , seeing the number plates is a Doddle which is always good I think, just need to sort out how to attach to the rear of the car ?

I've been running the lidl camera all day today and the quality is awesome boys , how do I put some footage up ?

Upload it onto YouTube and then post the link here...

Ok will do that ;)

That e-bay one is worth giving it a try for a tenner.

The only question I have to the peeps who already used it is how good/bad it is at stabilizing the image?

Anybody? Any bids from that camera to watch yet?

I will try and get vids up of the lidl one over the weekend just put a 32g crd in it but the initial thoughts are , its a cracker

Just out of interest, in dash camera, what do people actually really want from one? Ideal points to make a sale?

Blackvue seems to be popular but has issues with battery drain.

GPS? HD? Nightvision? Ability to run 24 hours with a good source of memory? Size?

For me personally:-

-Maintenance free so install and forget, nothing to switch on or off and pull the card to get footage off when needed, no batteries or anything requiring user maintenance

-picture quality - no shake and being able to read reg plates even from quite a distance

-good night time performance as well as full sun performance

-low price

-no need for anything else at all, no GPS or other garnish just basic functions doing their jobs well
