Can anyone recommend some roof bars?  Although expensive, I'm tempted to go for the Skoda bars having managed to find one very good review for these.  I'm a little wary of fitting bars in general, having read a few horror stories of damage to paintwork and dented roofs on other vehicles that take this kind of fitting.  Any advice appreciated

The dealer threw mine in when I bought our car. I've not tried them yet but will be giving it a shot next Saturday, so will let you know how I get on. I'd be interested to know if there is any difference between the octavia ones and the rapid ones (borrowing a roof box from a fried with an octavia).

I've gone ahead and ordered the Skoda bars.  Took a trip to Meadens to look at the bars fitted to the Spaceback in their showroom, and was impressed with the ease of fitting and the bars in general.

They do look good fitted to that car

For Thule, i believe its kit 1713 and footpack 754, around £100 for both together

Have now received the Skoda bars and am very impressed.  After reading a few horror stories about dents and over-tightened bars I decided to play it as safe as possible and am glad I did.  They are fitted in seconds and are very secure.  Another plus is that they are just narrow enough to take the 'U bolts' that were supplied with my roof box, so I won't need additional T-track adapters.  Highly recommended.

Attached the skoda roof bars yesterday and a box I'd borrowed from a friend with an Octavia mk2 (not current shape,09 plate). He was well impressed with how easily they went on! We had hoped to just swap the bars and the box over but it turns out the rapid's bars are a little wider but closer together. Anyway, overall GREAT BARS!
