Under-seat box/cd changer wont open

Featured Replies

I have a skoda fabia vrs 04 and was looking to buy and fit a cd changer. Since i had seen that some of them already have the cd changer i thought id check if mine did. However the compartment under the passenger seat simply wont open, i cant tell whether it's just a box or a cd changer but either way there doesnt appear to be a release catch and trying to pull it open simply doesnt work. Is there something I'm missing?

Thanks, Rob

You may not have either, it could just be a clipped on cover over a large gap.

Looking from the back and feeling behind the cover there is definitely something there I'm just not sure what.

If it looks like a plain bit of plastic, then you have neither. If there's a blatant handle on the front, you have a storage box, if you have a little panel that slides across where you insert cd's then you can probably guess what that is.

You need to ideally remove the seat to remove any of the above.

I think it's a storage box where the handle has broken off, from looking at pictures of the storage boxes. Think I'll have to remove the passenger seat as you say, thanks

It does look like a possible broken handle, as you said.

Any chance of a more head-on picture, just to be sure??

Yeah deffo broken handle, as above.

You might be able to see parts of the mech. Handle attach(ed) from the top, under the overhang, attaching to two hooked catches. If you can pull or push on the mech you might get it to open.

Thanks, looks like this will have to go on the to-do list along with the air conditioning resistor and radio.
