ANY ONE TOWED WITH A DOLLIE

Featured Replies

any body towed with one

Yes.

What do you want to know?

The vehicle on it needs to be legal if 2 wheels are on the road.

& according to weights it will be Braked or Unbraked etc.

Yes, hated it.

Much, much prefer having a trailer.

More stable, better braking.

I am looking to tow a car with NO engine (VW PD) it has a current MOT and will be insured as a temp add veh on my policy. The ULW is1250 kg, However, less seats and engine I recon will be around 900 kg.    The dolly is a well specked with suspension and brakes. Looking at a possible120 mile tow

my car can tow 1200 kg according to handbook

Parkers car guide state ULW 1250 kg for the car I looking to tow

Just out of interest any body know the weight of a 1.9 PD  Without gearbox

You real ULW, not handbook quote.

Some VAG cars are heavier than they let on.

Is the car going on the Dolly, Taxed, MOT'd & Insured because it needs to be unless you are a Licensed Recovery Operative.

Can you not hire a Trailer & use a car capable of the tow?

Would it still be road legal with no engine though????

It can be Legal on a Dolly with no Engine in it, if it has all the Valid MOT Certificate, Insurance and VED.

Because it is a Motor Vehicle, engine in or not, without that 3 Road Legal Requirements, the Tyres/wheels can not be on the road..

Same as kids with a Moped with no Engine pushing it along the Road, it was a Legal Vehicle once, and still is a Motor Vehicle.

They get stopped with a Motor Vehicle, and i have the T Shirt for that one in the past.

on a SORN, Not on a SORN, Declared Scrapped, or just missing off the DVLA Data Base, if it was once on , then possibly Illegal

on the Public Highway without a minimum 3rd Party Cover, Insurance and MOT unless on its way to a Booked MOT.
