Can anyone confirm whether programming a blank remote key via the door lock method (old key in ignition - blank in door) will only program the key to work the remote locking or does it also allow the new key to start the car (ie programs the immobiliser to the key as well?)

no it won't work

 

you can use vag com to do the remote fob but will require more expensive tools to make a key that will start the car
