SE and Elegance are no more

Featured Replies

Prices are now on the Skoda UK web site but alongside SE and Elegance (no mention of their impending doom; however they are absent from the build your own).

Sport does not get the 86PS engine and the red seating appears standard.

Sports are all 105 I believe ?

Mines coming with Grey Onyx interior. Is the Red an option?

The Spaceback SE Sport is not the same as the Rapid (notchback) Sport and therefore has a wider choice of engines.

Effectively they have replaced the Spaceback Elegance with this new SE Sport trim, which is on the face of it more expensive. However this hides the fact that the price has actually gone down considerably, if you had bought an SE and added the full list of options that have become standard, for example;

Rapid SB Elegance 1.2TSI 105 - £16,640 before withdrawn

Rapid SB SE 1.2TSI 105 - £16,180 before withdrawn

Rapid SB SE 1.2TSI 105 - £18,630 with Sportpack, climate control and nav (options now standard on SE Sport) before withdrawn

Rapid SB SE Sport 1.2TSI 105 - £17,380 (saving of £1250 over SE with options)

Oh not sure about the notchback but the Spaceback does have the option of red or grey sports seats, with the red now being the default and grey the option; we have the grey in our SB (our Monte has the red but here that was the option not default).

Our newly registered Spaceback is an SE with Sportpack, so I'm glad I got a very good discount, otherwise I'd have been feeling a bit ripped off, as the new trim levels were announced to dealers a day after I collected mine :S

One final thought, these new trims also make the Black Edition Spaceback look expensive, whereas it had been very briefly more of a bargain at £18,250.

It won't quash the dichotomy that its called 'Rapid', yet its one of the slowest VAG's. If its an image problem the car has it could be easy fixed by dropping a 2.0 FSI Turbo in it people wont care about the drab interior then. Id buy a couple tomorrow if this happened.

I've had the 1.2TSI and the 1.6 TDi as courtesy cars and I have to say, I'm REALLY impressed with their performance. And the Eco of the TDI is amazing!

great but your missing my point im talking sub 6 secs 0-60 with great handling and stopping power to be called Rapid Sport or vrs! or should be IMHO. I would literally walk into the dealer and buy two now to replace my two Octavia vrs, as long as the price was sub £18k each.

I have the 1.4 TSI DSG and must admit its as fast as I like to go and still have decent everyday MPG.

A great balance / trade off!

Although I have test driven the Fabia Vrs and it was very fast (extra supercharger or whatever)

Possibly the mapping option could take you to that "place"! ;<)
