skoda fabia 1.6tdi estate servicing

Featured Replies

hi guys less of an expert on this topic, sending my skoda for a service this week, and ive got a very vague description in my book about changing brake fluid every 3 years? now my cars 1 month over 3 years, has covered nearly 50k, is this essential and also is this very expensive?

any other suggestions on what should be done on this service im wanting to hear too please!

thanks

About 45-50 pound at a service. Yes it is the service schedule at 3 years then each 2 year's. As well to have it done unless you are having the fluid checked for moisture.

lucky for me im not going to skoda dealer, have tps trade prices n a very reliable mechanic who drives only skodas, so knows what hes doing. it also says the spark plugs should be changed if car is driven more than 60k in less than 4 years does this apply for glow plugs on diesels? also is 5w30 507 Castrol edge the best oil to be using as obviously skoda claims to only use Castrol.

Is your car the 1.6 TDI ?

Sorry i know nothing about them.

Check the service schedule for your car, Was there a 1 year minor Service and 2 year Major Inspection service done,?

The correct VW 507 00 oil is what is needed, it does not need to be Castrol.

Many Skoda Dealerships use Quantum.

well weird thing is written by the dealer its on a variable timed service (depending on  how the cars driven etc.) yet in the stamp its on fixed service interval, so im baffled. and yes its 1.6tdi 105

You should be able to dertermine which service interval you are on by the amout of time / distance between the service lights.

Fixed = 12 months / 10,000 miles, whichever is reached first.

Variable = Up to 24 months / 20,000 miles. The car measures distance, journey typres, cold starts, oil viscosity etc. and determines for itself when it needs fresh oil.

Brake fluid is needed at three years from new, then every two years after that.

The spark plugs are for the petrol only, the glow plugs in the diesel are not a service item.

See here for main dealer prices to give you an idea...

Minor /fixed service = £139.

Major / variable service = £259.

Brake fluid = £45.

I'm guessing it will be in for its first MOT too - £39.
