Any one know the Best way to get maximum fuel efficiency in vrs?

Featured Replies

Found this on the Mondeo. For economy' date=' I don't need to maintain the same speed all the time and I'm happy to let the car slow down slightly on gentle hills and feed in a bit of throttle if the speed drops too much rather than carrying on at the same speed. Seen a 4mpg increase in fuel economy since abandoning cruise as there's plenty of hills around here which the car loves to go flat out up to get back up to speed

You can also coast down hills to save fuel (put the clutch in and let the engine idle) although I don't believe the IAM approve of this ;)

watch the mpg reading when you do this and you will see that on a modern engine the mpg is better when you are in gear than when coasting .when in gear the inertia of the car keeps the engine turning and very little (if any) fuel is fed in . when coasting the engine has to be kept running by fuel

on a 2.0 octy petrol the idling/coasting at 60 mph showed about 170mpg

in gear same road same speed the mpg went off the scale ,highest flash reading I saw was 400 mpg plus

this only works above about 1500 rpm

Try a cupra! 300 miles to the tank, and it needs 97/98RON to run at its bestl due to the remap. Thats why i'm getting the VRS.
