I ran a K&N panel filter for a while, as above never noticed any real difference over standard

  • Congrats on getting a 1.9 PD.  Lovely motor.   Usual symptoms of low/worn gearbox oil are notchy or baulky changes into first or when cold, so the problems with third might be a synchro thing, but f

  • Thanks for that here you go i took these the day i purchased the car so on monday i think, So far i have put a set of skoda vrs number plate holders on, bought xenon headlight kit however not fi

  • Looks very nice, and I like the plate as well

If you have some flat and level ground, try rolling the car by pushing it. It should be easy to get it to roll. If not then an investigation will be needed. Any scrapey graunchy noises need checking out too.

Any filter other than the VAG one will let through more dust.

I don't think anyone has been able to demonstrate real world noticeable performance increase using an aftermarket filter. Just sound a bit louder/different.

A whole CAI may raise a single HP.

Has anyone had there intake taken out an cleaned, heard they have alot of carbon build up, worth giving a clean along with the egr or give it a miss, my car doesnt smoke unless it given the beans and even then its just slightly

And i managed to average 49 mpg 2 days in a row much happier as the range doesnt wont to drop compared to when i was getting 43

Injector problems = PD170 on vRS models, and as Mike said, replaced for free.

Any idiot can cross thread a sump plug on any make car, probably due to not using a new one each time as you are supposed to.

No electric handbrakes on Skodas.

The 1.9PD is a bulletproof engine as long as you service it correctly, with the correct oil. Did you replace the fuel filter at this service as well, worth doing at each service for the £10 they cost.

Has anyone given you the bad news about DMFs yet LOL

Nope not yet, but some people have said when the dmf is on its way you should convert it to single?

I think a extra £40 for a custom remap would be better as tuning boxes have fixed map on them

Yep, on the 1.9 the SMF is a proven solution. Unless your clutch and flywheel have already been replaced I expect at 118k they aren't that far from needing doing. I find that around the 100-120k mark is when they normally need doing.

You might be lucky and it has already been done and you have another 80-100k before you have to worry about it :)

How would i find out if its been changed, it feels quite low to be fair any actuall ways to check

Not trying to be rude or disrespectful but after some of your questions and replies to answers given, would it not be wise to walk before you can run before thinking about remaps??? Get any issues with the car sorted out first, especially with clutch and flywheel before going down that route. Mike

When i got the sump changed i had the mechanic check the car and he told me one track rod end will need doing soon but apart from that everything else was good

Most the problems with the car was just tlc, e.g the gear box into 3rd gear after adjusting cables its now smooth as a babys bottom,

Inside lights were faulty however a friend of mine got a full breaker at his garage whicg i spent a day at swapping parts over

As said above im not intrested in power at all was mosty intrested in mpg as i know these engines can do great mpg and have heard of some doing outstanding after a eco map

However im not in any rush for a re map atm because my front bumper has got the ****test re spray in the world atm and i would rather have the car looking presentable before anything else.

Could anyone tell me what mm bolts hold the undertray on and isit 10 i need ?

Think they are torx screws T25 and T30

  • Author

Think they are torx screws T25 and T30

So 10mm bolts wont do the job?

Don't know but the proper screws are not expensive from you local skoda dealer or TPS

As said definitely screws. On mine when I removed it recently to recover a dropped torch, there were nine and one missing, so ten it is.

  • Author

No 10mm bolts won't do the job. As you've just been told they are torx 25 and 30 screws -- pointed end screws that go into speed clips in the side plastic pieces.

Mike

Only asked because i dont know the diffrence between the 2 apart from the bits that go into them

So there 10 altogether do i need 5 t25 and 5 t30 or ??

Sorry for all the questions but just dont wont to get the car on the jack, then drop it an hav to go auto spares because i have the wrong screws

They were all the same (T25s I think) in my case.

Thanks Mike. Looks like 11 then and mine have been replaced then at some point in the past as it was only one torx bit I needed.

Skoda do like to mix up their torx screws though. There are at least three different head sizes used in and around the dash area!

Just filled my screen wash bottle up, and the jets arnt squirting the water /:

its OK quoting T25, T30 for the screws, but surely this is just the size of the torx bit on the screw head, the screws you will need will be self tapping type and you could use another type apart from torx, as long as the screw head is big enough to hold the panel up.

Question to the OP, how do you get on with the insurance? someone stated that your car was an Ambiente before being a Cat D and then it seems it has had a vRS makeover when repaired. Do you inform the insurance of all the additional parts the car now has? or is it insured as a standard Ambiente?

I told them it was a cat d and they wonted a mot copy to prove it was road worthy, and i told them about the 'body kit' as they classed it and the alloys spolier and interior replacement and it was £400 cheaper then a standard octavia, happy days :)
