Rattle/jingle when turning to the left?

Featured Replies

Steering rack was leaking a few months ago and then developed a noise, only really when turning the wheel to the left. Sounds like metal on metal rattle/jingle, goes when you straighten up, and I'm sure it only does it when going left.

Had a recon rack fitted which I assumed would've solved the noise, but it hasn't.

Anyone have any ideas??

have you checked the Drive shafts?

IIRC a rattle turning left could indicate a worn outer CV Joint on the Driverside.

I haven't mate and I'm not that mechanically minded Tbh, it does pull to the left really bad too- with new tyres and tracking.

Is it a clonk clonk clonk or a definite rattle?  Whereabouts does it sound liek ti is coming from (your feet area?) and have you had the cambelt changed recently?

Definite rattle. Sound like it's coming from behind the dash. Belt was done about 18/24 months ago.

Maybe the clip off the driveshaft boot came loose, possibly the shield behind the brake disc.

Jack it up

Turn it to the left

Spin the wheel by hand and listen for anything.
