Octavia mk1 front speaker install guide?

Featured Replies

Hey, I'm in no doubt that a guide exists on here, but I can not find one :-(

I want to install 6.5 inch componants....

Can anyone help at all? :-(

Thanks

Funnily enough, I don't think there is a how to for this, but you could check out Rob's site - http://www.pimpmyskoda.co.uk/, his car may have a couple of bit's that are still original on it that he hasn't changed yet :D

I have fitted Alpine type r components in the front of my Octy. No issues straight bolt in fit.

But isn't there more to it? Like, sealing up membranes and stuff for water leaks or something?

Depends how deep your replacement speakers are to be able to answer that question properly really. Also depends if you are just changing like for like, or amping them through crossovers.

I've bought some fli componants, the integrator ones. It has a mini crossover, I think, small box, speaker and tweeter wires go in separately and other end of the box ysareqa8.jpg they are 6.5" and mounting depth is: 56 mm

Not the best, but they are new and only cost £30. Will be better than the standard speakers anyways.

Lastly, they will be amped with a fli 2channel amp

Where are you hoping to mount the crossovers and amp if all goes to plan?.

Inside the door card if there is space

Amp in the boot lol

As the inside of the door in wet weather is almost like Amazonian, I would suggest mounting the crossovers inside the main cabin area, otherwise make sure the crossover is 101% waterproof if you still intend to mount in the door.

I will check the speaker depth on my chart in the morning for you, unless the guru that is Lloyd gets on here later to confirm beforehand.

Lol, ok buddy. Thank you :-) I have some good plans for this car, engine mods more than exterior or interior, I am just sorting out all the little bits like gaskets, servicing (which is all done now), suspension and making it good enough to start some serious mods. What I'm looking for is 280bhp

It's a number which is very much achievable and there are a few different ways to achieve it from what I've read up on. So any advice, or links to some threads which give me a better understanding of what's required to achieve that, would be great :-)

Do some searching for threads on beach buggy turbo's, may be of interest at that power level. Also be aware that 300 bhp or there abouts is the maximum comfort zone for standard rods really, I have the holed block and broken rods of my son's LCR still in the garage as proof to remind me

Yeah, my research has told me 300bhp + is where things can start to go wrong! which is why I think 280bhp is a good level. Plus, more than 300bhp is not worth it on a fwd car in my opinion.

You will need a diff !

Explain? I'm a bit of an amateur (I'm doing this alongside my mate who is a mechanic, I'm just learning as we go along and doing it on my car obviously lol)

Huge power and front wheel drive on standard diff = torque steer, and loads of brown pants moments that you didn't realise you had until you fit a proper lsd and find out different.

I have fitted Alpine type r components in the front of my Octy. No issues straight bolt in fit.

What model was 'plug and play' and was there any difference in quality?

  • Author

Ok, where do I get a LSD from then? And what sort of price am I looking at?

Alpine SPR-60 and yes plug and play. They will need a decent Amplifier. The best change in sound quality comes from replacing the HU

According to my chart there are 2 sets of components, I t says one will not fit the other will with modification to the door. Do you have more info on model numbers at all?.
