Octy mk 1 speaker advice please Lloyd

Stoopppid photobucket was possessed :D

Just had quick read , so if i miss question just reask :D

Crossover will be live n neg in then off to tweet n mid

This can be mounted in car

In door but wrap in bag

Ir hollow the foam behind door card

Depth u can get away with most

I have jl c5s,

I cut the membrane ( bottom and sides of the sunken circle ) it acts like a umbrella for the magnet

I believe theres a small lug on the bottom left of the door frame u need to tap back or remove ( and seal )

This will allow it to sit nice

My JL's are 65mm mounting if it helps

Unlikely the fli's lwill be deeper

OK, best info that I have been able to get is that if they are recent integrators, then they should fit depth wise, however, you may have to do a little creative massaging of a small area of the depth stop plate fitted inside the door. That is the best info I can find I'm afraid............................................unless Lloyd knows better?. :giggle:

Damn you Lloyd you always jump in when I'm not looking

:D i was called upon lol

Thanks Lloyd.

No probs, alway happy to help ( try )

:D lol

And I need to register with vagcat, which is long! Is there not a website that sells these pipes?

I think that it will probably be a dealer only job, but I can check etka for you if you can give me a better photo of the pipe you need. There are 2 or 3 in that area, so need to be sure.

Lloyd means put it in a small polythene bag and seal the outlet with a cable tie and a blob of silicone sealant to be certain. Only thing is unit may sweat a bit inside so I would drop in one of those dessicated crystal bags you find in boxes for electrical items to keep damp away,

Phil got it :)

They can get warm tho so not the best way

The back of the door card has lots of foam u can hollow out too ;)

All will be clear when u pop the card dude :)

Not the best, but they are new and only cost £30. Will be better than the standard speakers anyways.

Lastly, they will be amped with a fli 2channel amp

It just so happens I have those very same speakers in the fronts. I only have them hooked up to me std stereo but very good quality over the last set i had . Well built too.

I can tell you, you will not get those in without cutting back the door or adding spacers. The speakers depth in these cars is crud.

You need to cut the door metal near the lower section that is close to the window frame screw to allow the magnet to clear door. . I can find some pictures

I also got creative with making sure the door plastic seal covered surrounding areas as best as i could to stop any water ingress.

Inside the door card if there is space

I also fitted the crossovers inside the door and in a position that followed the wiring loom half way between tweeters and the main speaker. A tight fit and need to be careful to check that the door panel will still fit flush.

Also I had to mod the tweeter surrounds and tiger seal the tweeters in place.

If u have any pics, that would be great buddy :-)

What do you mean when u say the door plastic seal covered surrounding areas..... I just can't see what u mean buddy. Sorry

The door membrane has a pre pressed area for the speaker to go into and keep everything watertight. If you fit deeper speakers, you have to cut that membrane, but the smart bunnies add more plastic sheet in and gaffa tape the area that is cut to keep it watertight. Will be really obvious when you remove the speaker.
