Spark plugs for a Vrs

Featured Replies

We're is the best place to get the uprated BKR7EIX spark plug for a Vrs?

Amazon are usually quite good.

Ebay

Your local Motor Factors where you collect and know they are right.

If buying from Ebay only from Trusted Suppliers, there are Bad Copies around, that is with lots of car service parts.

How about DENSO Plugs which are on Offer @ Euro Car Parts and very good IMO.

Thanks for the replies, I'm getting my car mapped at the end of August so would really like these ngk plugs as they seem to be to ones to have

George has a mapped car I believe. Also I thought the uprated ones had an 8 instead of 7. May be wrong.

Ok thanks. I'm only going stage 1 and iv looked on here and the 7s are good for standard and stage 1 I believe lol

I seem to remember the 7s were better for stage 1 and the 8s for stage 2.  There is a thread somewhere about it in more detail.  I'd get the garage to fit them unless you have a set of coil pullers. Certainly worth changing the OEMs before the mandated service schedule due to the issues others have had.

're the 7,s or 8.s and recommendations from revo installers. Maybe look at some more threads on here. See how short life some users got. And also how they had issues and removed the revo remap.

I don't really want to use ebay! Don't trust them in my car to be honest! And I'm getting my map from awesome not revo as I see people have had problems with revo.

Are those the plugs that Awesome GTI have recommended with the APR Stage 1 . ?

Why not buy them from them?

Are you having the car on the Dyno before & after the remap?

They haven't said anything, plus iv not asked lol, iv just searched on here what people have done with stage one and people have changed the plugs. Ye the car is goin on the dyno before and after.

When I spoke to Evan at APR ages back regarding the stage 1 I am sure it was the 7s he had looked into, VRSy, who was the APR vRS test car also tried a variety and the consensus was 7s for stage 1.

I would have thought that the guys at Awesome would take the plugs out to give them a clean anyway so just as easy to change them as long as they have them in stock or you give them a set.

Out of curiosity, what year and engine is your car Fletch? There was a thread about limited ability to tune the new CTHE engines recently and I know they had issues with cracking some of the later CAVE ECUs, which did get sorted.

Ok, thanks will give then a ring tomoz, it's a 2011 on a CTHE engine. I'm seen them on camskill for £31 for the set. Has anybody used camskill?

CTHE Engines were not fitted until late 2012 in the vRS, after September i believe,

so it will be a CAVE engine and ECU on your car i would think.

That's what I meant lol.

Can anyone help with the right plugs for stage 2 is it the 8's

Many thanks

Maybe worth looking at the other 2 threads down the page tonight and try DENSO and go with a 0.6mm gap.

They will quite possibly last considerably longer without issue.

I already have the densos set at 0.6mm and there not the best

?

What issue are you having, have they expired early, or 1 has, or is there an issue with performance?

I've used the NGK 7's and 2 different Denso models of spark plug, including one that George has recommended, and I personally can't remember noticing a difference with any of them. Varied in price and they all came out after 10-12000 miles and were in a perfectly good condition when they did come out too. Kept a used set in the boot just in case something were to go wrong with the current ones.

I'm getting a miss fire every now and then when pushing hard at about 5000rpm the car is due to be mapped next Saturday and just want to get the plugs changed before I get there

At the moment the car has a de-cat exhaust, gfb dv+, itg induction kit I've also just bought the forge intercooler and pipe kit for the car witch will be going on this weekend

Best get rid of that misfire then and see all is well before the remap.

Is the car running a standard map now then?

& what stage 2 are you getting APR?
