Spark plugs for a Vrs

Featured Replies

That's my plan mate.

I'm getting cc tuning to custom map the car and yes it's still on the standard map witch has the latest ecu update.

I got a code once when the engine management light flashed other than that no mate and I'll ask Chris witch plugs to buy.

I will take the plugs out at the weekend and check them over to see if they still have there gap and are not coated with carbon.

No need to have them coated with Carbon if you take the car out and roast it before removing plugs, (once cooled)

But then you can not do that when you are getting misfires, vicious circle type thing.

So how long (miles) have the DENSO plugs been in?

Roughly about 4000miles I think, but I think with the car not running 100 percent right with the de-cat that it's possible that the car is over fuelling as it is intermittent the fault

So take it for a blast once the engine reaches its correct oil temp then take the plugs out once cool ?

Most Twincharger owners i know always try to give the car a blast once up to temp and before parking up,

it helps stop 1 spark plug oiling, and carbon build up, but if you already have a misfire, best not.

Mostly Misfires are on full boost (under load) with Supercharger & Turbo under 3,500 rpm,

5,000 rpm really needs checking out to see what the cause is,

air intake leak, coil, or some other problem.

I'll get it sorted this weekend when I get it in the garage thanks for your help

Did u ever get the oil restrictor bolt for running a decat?

Yes mate I've got one off the Astra vxr.

Having a service done by Skoda next Friday, would the standard plugs that they fit be ok for my stage 1 car? Or just buying new ones myself and having them fitted?

The plugs they fit will be OK, but it is a bit of a waste of money is it not going to a Main Dealer.

?

Any reason you are wasting money having Skoda do the Service.

You have no Warranty with Skoda with the car remapped, you are not getting a Air Filter fitted are you?

Why not get decent oil and a filter, not Castrol or Quantum,

and put in DENSO plugs or something else.

Do you not have an VW Specialist Independent near you to do work for you?

Surely your best bet would be to ask the Skoda dealer to fit suitable plugs?

I'm in the process of getting other quotes to have the service done but I thought if I maintained some dealer service history, in the event anything major went wrong in the future, I thought Skoda may be more inclined to offer some form of good will gesture or something, I don't know. I may be talking rubbish.

And as for asking the dealer to fit suitable spark plugs, I didn't think they'd know what to fit for a tuned model hence wondering if standard would be ok or if I should just get them to fit ones I've bought myself while they're at it.

What i want done is a fuel filter, oil and oil filter spark plugs and possibly brake fluid, and for that I was thinking of buying some higher spec stuff.

I've recently changed the air panel filter and pollen filter myself so they don't need doing.
