speedo needle not lighting up ?

Featured Replies

As of last week my wife's speedo needle has stopped illuminating ?? it still functions but is very hard to see at night , has anyone got any advise on how to access this? my wife had the car booked in to Rayleigh Skoda today for the dsg oil recall, she waited for two hours just to be told that Skoda's computer has crashed and to come back another day !! and for them to investigate the speedo needle would be £98 !! even tho the car is still under warranty , so a complete waste of our time i feel like sending them an invoice for my wifes time and petrol 50 mile round trip !

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

Mark

Had similar experience last service being asked to pay to investigate what should be warranty work, in our case though less of an issue being something rattling inside the door; would maybe put a call in to Skoda UK customer services.

So even if i take it apart its not going to be an easy fix ? i spoke to the clowns at rayleigh skoda and the service woman said that they will fix it but i have to pay then claim the money back afterwards ! i kindly told here to jog on , I'm starting to think skoda have the worst customer service I've ever had to deal with , I'm glad I've stuck with bmw, I've never had such poor service.

If it's still under warranty then shout lots.  Not had good reports about that particular franchise.......

if its under warranty theres no investigation to be done, they can see if its not working, speak to the service manager

Surely that's got to be covered by warranty!? Like the plumber says. Contact skoda customer services and get them to deal with it. Think the number is 0333 003 7504

Love the new Golf R. Amazing looking motor. Only seen one on the road up to now. Christ, the thing was loud!

I'd have another auto for sure. When I tell people about the DSG in mine, most of them give you the whole auto being crap thing but none of them have used the DSG before :-)

Had the same thing in reverse on a 1997 Fabia. The needles light up, but the dials do not intermittently, except if you turn all the lights on manually.

I took the car in yesterday for several faults “Oil service required”, loss of phone connectivity and a noisy AC compressor.

They re-programmed the computer(s) for the first two and re-gassed the AC (although it was cooling fine) for the latter - I doubt if that will repair a noisy compressor - and I presumed the instrument panel fault was a computer glitch sorted by their laptop.

On the way home the dials went out again. I phoned and the receptionist said: ‘We didn’t see any problem’.
‘Did you drive the car?’

‘No’.

She said the only repair is a new instrument binnacle, so we’ll go with that, before the warranty expires in October.

Quite strange that the dials illuminate when the lights are on, but not always when they’re turned off. It’s not an electrical fault such as a bad connection or a dry joint, it’s an electronic fault down to those bloody computers!
