Rapid sport or black edition?

Featured Replies

Hi

I'm new to this forum. Am seriously considering buying a Skoda rapid. I'm looking at the sport and limited black edition but struggling to choose between them. If you take the price of a rapid sport in black and add the satnav and dab it still works out cheaper than the black edition. Am I missing something? Wouldn't it be cheaper to just get a rapid sport in black plus satnav and dab?

Also has anyone got any experience with skoda dealers in terms of getting discount? I can pay in cash but am attracted by zero percent finance and 3 years servicing - even if it's just to get the servicing then pay off finance. But the dealership I went to wasn't budging on discount - is that normal? I read it was hard to get discount on cars offering zero percent finance but even so it seems a bit strange. At one stage I saw some huge discount on drivethedeal but it seems to have disappeared.

Finally I'm a bit put off by the 1.2 engine even though it does sound quite punchy from reviews and comments on this forum. Is it decent in terms of overtaking on a motorway?

Thanks

Mark

Cannot speak for the 1.2 TSI however many doubters have loved it!!

I have a 1.4TSI DSG and it is certainly one of the fastest cars i have had, faster than previous 2 litre petrol Ford Focus CC

And the DSG is so smooth and if you stay in in or around London would recommend it to save the dead clutch leg syndrome.

Now on our second Fabia with the detuned 1.2TSI 86 and we also have a Spaceback 1.2TSI 105, very pleased with the performance of both engines.

Would also suggest going for the Blackline would be financially the better bet, particularly come resale time, as the price offered P/X for the Sport would not reflect the extra cost spent on options.

Dealer wise you should have a ring round, not sure which dealer you have seen but Lee at Preson Motors (site sponsor) might be worth getting in touch with;

Or further afield try Horton Lincoln.

Thanks for the advice - I'm in London so will check out the dealer you recommend - think I will go for the black edition if available. I'm tempted by the better performance of the 1.4 but not a big fan of automatics - also quite tempted by the extras on offer in the special editions. Thanks again!

A decent test drive will help you decide which suits you bext, plus don't forget the 'extras' you add to your new car will be worth virtually nothing come trade in so it often makes more sense to go for the standard higher spec model. Good luck.

I was one of the doubters regarding the 1.2tsi until i drove it.Its on par with my previous 1.9tdi (also 105ps).I was very impressed with the performance and how it pulls.I then ordered the Sport with hopefully an Amundsen HU :)

My dealer wouldn,t budge on the price at all as it came with 0% and 3 years free servicing.

Roll on 3 weeks :)

Pauntley the 1.2 105 is a beaut try it you will not be disappointed . I was a bit sceptical when I read about this engine I am a convert now though.

I've mentioned in other topics how pleased I am with my 1.2 tsi (105)... Plenty of pull on the motorway, great economy as well. I'd always say drive it before you buy it... And if it's not quite quick enough there are always companies that will make them go quicker (135bhp more torque and smoother curve - although I'd wait till your manufactures warranty has finished).

what is the price difference between the 1.2 tsi and 1.4 in Europe?

I paid under £10,000 for 1 year old Rapid SE 1.4 TSI DSG.

Delighted with purchase and performance

We paid under £9400 and had a few things thrown in like roof bars, boot liner and stuff for our 2013 rapid 1.2 elegance with less than 14000 miles.

  • 2 weeks later...

I've got 3 years free servicing, 0% and the dealship still give me £3000 off list on the black edition rapid spaceback.
