Aircon noise

Featured Replies

We've had the Roomster for 5 months now. Really enjoying it.

Over the past few days there's been an intermittent, fast clicking from behind the dash on the passenger side. Today it's become more consistent, and appears to be linked to the "recirculate" button next to the aircon button. If both are on with the fan it's fine, but if I turn the aircon off but leave the circulation button lit it whirs, and if I turn both off and the fan it whirrs.

It was very loud but now has diminished a bit. My theory is that it's something to do with the motor that opens and closes the recirculation flap. It's almost as if a gear is slipping, and it's now quieter because it's wearing down the teeth.

Anyone experienced anything similar, or have any comments?

Thanks

Find someone with diagnostic cable / VCDS to see what error codes are being shown. Likely flap motor damaged, but you might get away just with recalibrating open/closed positions (in "Basic Setting" ), certainly worth doing if there are no errors stored in ECU. Happens also on other cars, my Superb required recalibration twice in 8 years. But best to do it before the flap fails completely from constant movement.

Thanks. We bought it new, so the dealer can sort it out.

Skoda Bristol (south) had it in on Monday and fixed it. It was the recirculation motor.
