vRS Illuminated Interior Door Handles

Featured Replies

Chaps, saw this on the Skoda.com site, didn't realise I had them.

I think the reason is they don't work! Anybody else had a problem?

They're not very bright. I barely notice them.

Mine work fine but yes they're not mega bright but are adjusted with the interior illumination adjustment.

They're also controlled by the dash brightness! ;)

Ok chaps, thanks, back to the stealers...

Are you 100% sure they don't work, turn your instrument brightness all the way up then look at the handles from underneath.

Yep, done that, no joy at all.

Probably unrelated but my headlamp washers have opted for the quiet life too. :(

My interior door handle lights appear to be on all the time, but as has been said I barely notice them.

This may sound like a daft question but have you actually got your lights on when you're checking your handle lights and headlamp washers? Also, the headlamp washers only operate every 'x' (5?) times that you operate the windscreen washers.

Fair question mate but sadly yes, tested all scenarios, lights on and off, interior light intensity knob fiddled with etc., no joy.

I'm aware that the headlamp washers only operate every five or so cycles and up to about a month ago they did just that but lately, no joy.

Not bothered too much as I keep the car pretty clean anyway but if it's fitted, it should work.

Perhaps a silly question but is your washer fluid low? The headlamp washers deactivate as soon as the warning comes on to conserve fluid and stop you burning out the high pressure cyclical pumps by pumping air through them. I thought mine had broke the first time it happened but its absolutely by design.....if not then looks like a problem.

Also the door handle lights....I thought this was one of SUK's mythical spec items but seems as though the vRS specifically has them. The Elegance certainly doesnt...perhaps makes up slightly for the vRS's lack of standard folding mirrors?

Door handle lights never noticed, right I shall have to have a look now.

Not a silly question at all fella but sadly no, I'm quite anal about things like that and keep me fluids topped up, water and oil for the car, (Chardonnay for me).

I'm off up to the stealers in a couple of weeks to discuss project dream vRS so will go through it then.

Interesting that it's mentioned the door handle lights aren't very bright, wonder if once their fixed whether brighter bulbs can be installed?

They're LEDs.

They're LEDs.

That's that then!

Where exactly are these lights? I had a quick look under my door handles earlier today and couldn't see where they were. Maybe I should be booking an appointment at SpecSavers.....

They're at the top corner where the handle sweeps up.

must say that they are the crappest "lights" ive ever seen on a car.  they are that low that they're barely worth being present!

They're only meant to be 'ambient' lighting.

Had Skoda made them brighter we'd be reading posts about how people were finding the reflection of their handle lights 'distracting'...

Can just see them with the instrument brightness turned up. Don't need them to see the handles but its a nice little feature

I like the feature, even better if they worked!

I'll get me sorted in the next few weeks, just in time to trade her.
