Should I buy for

Featured Replies

My mate is quite into his octys and last year bought a black one with wide mouth, wrc spoiler, Audi rs4 wheels and Porsche brakes etc etc. he then bought a standard red one 52 plate 127k to put all the bits on as he wasn't keen on the looks so the red one has a carbinaro induction kit, forge tip and dump valve and a awesome hose thing next to it. Forge fmic and full miltek exhaust system including down pipe and decat I think or a sports cat. When he went for a custom map for some reason they ended up putting a k03 turbo on instead of the k03s (by accident) when they swapped all the parts so if I put a k03s on and have it mapped again am I at stage 2? I just drove it and wasn't overly impressed as it didn't pin me back but saying that am I used to my fabia with loads of torque but it did motor on. It's also got a nuespeed RARB and a uprated front one I think. It's in quite good condition but the interior needs a good valet. I know the parts are worth about that but am I mad to consider it for my wife to use as a daily and have as a play toy?? I think it has a resonated system as it wasn't particularly loud but did sound nice. Would deffo go wide mouth on it to show off the sexy fmic :D

No that's sounds relatively sensible :) just make sure she doesn't kerb it

I'm also thinking if it is too juicy put the brakes on my fabia with the spiders and sell the rest of the bits off it :D how much is nuespeed RARB and carbinaro intake setup worth?

I am trying to work out what you are actually asking buddy if you take out the obvious of the price of £1200. :D

Is the Red VRS now having all the black VRS parts on.

Is the Red VRS got a K03 instead of a K03s?

if yes then you have a bit of a job fitting K03s back on and then making sure it is all running(unless you are doing the work) and does your wife care about all that or just wants a std VRS or is it you that likes the idea of a modded VRS :p

He bought the red standard one and wanted to take it to stage 2 but for the price of buying all the parts new he bought the black one which was already modded so he took the intake, exhaust, fmic and all the other good bits off of it and put it on the red one and sold the black one with all the exterior mods but basically standard engine wise. He then took it to be mapped I can't remember where and it made about 220bhp and he said it had the k03 turbo on and not the k03s so theyust of cocked up when they swapped the bits over. He lost interest then and he offered it to me as he wants the space back. My wife like it as it is but I'd like to put a k03s on and see what it's like then

What I'm wondering is how you accidentally chuck on the wrong turbo when just swapping the bits attached to the turbo over?! Or am I completely missing something?

When I say they've done it by accident I mean they've took off the k03s which is standard is it not? And put a k03 on not realising until he paid £450 to have it mapped and the guy told him he had the wrong turbo on. The black one must of had the k03 on from what I can gather but that was rapid but on this it's only made 220bhp or whatever it was. He told me ages ago about the turbo as he was going to get one but in passing today said I could have it for £1200. Nothing sinister in it he just had all the bits swapped by my brother in law and then at remap time the guy told him it was on a k03.

Yes this is the bit i am struggling with.

Who is "they" if the mapping company they would go nowhere near the turbo and certainly not for £450 to swap over a big and time consuming job.

So this leaves the guy who owned the black and red VRS , why would he swap over a turbo when typically most of the mods are bolt on jobbies?

certainly not suggesting sinister at all, just trying to work out what's what. Are you 100% sure it has a K03 instead of a K03s . The K03s has a silencer on the outlet.

yes K03s is std on all VRS's and AUQ engine'd Golf's.

in mapped form there is not a lot in the K03 and K03s in actual figures but the K03s breaths better and is more reliable

But if you don't care and wife don't care then £1200 ain't bad for a decent car. Maybe later on you can upgrade turbo in your own time

My mate bought both cars as he wanted the standard red one to be as quick as the black one so my brother in law put them on a 2 post ramp each side by side and swapped all the bits over including the turbo. He then took it to be mapped at jabba sport I think and paid £450 for the map with dyno runs and it only made 220ish bhp and that's when the guy who mapped it said it had a k03 on and not the k03s. When it was all on the black car it was rapid but when it all got put on this one it never performed aswel but he had planned to get a k03s and get it remapped but lost interest after spending all that money swapping bits etc

ok dude makes sense now, cheers.

Strange your mate swapped turbo over as no real need to do that but hey ho.  And even stranger it don't make same power, but maybe mapper is being more safety driven on the boost, fuel and timing to the original black mapped car.

I have not heard good things about jabba maps but no experience in those myself as i have Shark mapped on mine and it is great.

I take it you no longer have the black VRS to mess about with and swap turbo back over?

Getting back on track if you like the red one and it is good nick and you don't care about the turbo then £1200 ain't a big expense  for a clean motor.

But if you do care about wrong turbo and you need to buy another one you then need to factor that expense into the deal.

To be fair they didn't know a lot about these so just swapped everything and then the black one was sold. He's very kindly said I can use it for a few days to see what it's like on fuel so we just went for a run to Lincoln going on the back roads and then came back on the a1. It averaged 35mpg which I thought was good considering I thrashed it abit. To be fair it pulls very well in every gear up to the redline. I'm very impressed and if he hadn't said about the turbo etc I wouldn't of given it a second thought. Quite happy to leave it as it is although I think the carbinaro will come off and the s2000 filter I took off my fabia will go on to hopefully make it slightly louder. Anyway some pics, is the awesome piping the n249 delete or something??

Don't put those s2000 they look naf imo....the carbinaro is a much better piece of kit.

The Awesome pipe is not a delete mate,  that is just a silicon replacement breather hose to the std oem rubber one.

The rubber one is prone to splitting.

I quite liked my s2000 on the fabia it was the black and red one not the crappy one from euro

I was only going to take the carbinaro one off as it isn't very loud inside the car although I took it out for fuel last night with the windows down and it sounded lovely :)
