Official Fabia III pictures from Skoda

Looks more grown up but not really inspiring . Rear lights look like a 3 door Stylo

Not quite as ugly as the shots that AE have been running for a while.

Still a shame that there will be no fast variant.

is it just me, or is that back to looking like a mk1?

I agree.

I think this looks more like a re-modeling of the Mk1 Fabia to fit the current Skoda styling. I dont think it looks too bad, but would have to see one in person.

I like it.

Shame about it using the older heavier platform though over the new one the Ibiza and Polo will be getting.

Makes it a choice only on budget.  Which may be the plan, as it is what it is.

to me the Mk2 looked too skiny and too tall. if its on the same platform the mk3 may have the same issue.

Do you people not read? :p

The new Fabia is up to 60kg model-for-model lighter than the old one, because of the use of the new hot-formed steel construction as seen on MQB. That will make it lighter than the current Polo and Ibiza and possibly not much heavier than the next Polo and Ibiza which are still 2 years away anyway.

It's not. 9cm wider and 3cm lower than the old car.

My first thought was an Audi A1

60 kg lighter than which Mk2 FL. is that just the Basic Car Platform / Body ?

with the Mk2 they went from Unladen Weights (Kerb Weight) of some with no Spare Wheel

1,020, 1,029 , 1,041 , 1,055 , 1,089 petrols (1,243 kg vRS which now they say a 1,318 kg because the weights of the Estate were greater than published)

then, 1,128 , 1,129 , 1,144 kg Diesel Fabia hatches

..............

3cm of a difference does matter to both men and women obviously. To some more than others.

So lets see how the width and length actually looks in the flesh, and what is the 3 cm lower based on, which previous version?

because the Mk2's have various Official heights like.

Standard Fabia 1,498 mm

Monte Carlo 1,492 mm

vRS 1,493 mm

But when you seem them near each other, on different tyres etc, then those are just numbers and often do not reflect how they look.

As to 9cm wider, if that is the bodywork excluding mirrors, then 1 3/4 " (44 mm) of extra width at each side of wheel arches or Tornado line means very little really.

Lets hope they are nice, reliable, affordable but mostly reliable. well thats my hope for them, then the Pre-Hype from the Media Department will have been worth it.

I'm disappointed...

It seems to have some cutting edge designs in the styling in line with the Octavia (which I like).

But overall, it still looks bland and conservative... I guess that is the Skoda brand image.

Quite happy with the new look from these images but will not be rushing to replace our Monte with one while it stays reliable; all being well, I'll be looking at the MkIII FL :giggle:
