Power loss problems 1.9tdi helllllllppppp

Featured Replies

Hi guys

I've got a 1.9tdi 100PD polo, after trying a few vw forums I haven't had any responses at all with my problems and I was wandering wheather you guys will help out a fellow tdi man

Right 3 weeks ago on the way home my car became powerless and the turbo wasn't kicking in, struggled to keep 60 going up inclines in the motorway. Boost gauge stopped reading anything at all so pulled over did the usual checks however nothing stood out.

Took it to a garage and they said turbos gone so I whipped the old one off and fitted a hybrid turbo based on the 130 garrett with 170 internals.

Starts up fine runs sweet but still no turbo kick in low down however if you rev it high there is power there but nothing mind boggling.

I am running a decat and egr delete

Refitted my boost gauge now and it's reading negative pressure -0.6 bar and foot down around 0 bar

Got it hooked up to a diagnostics machine and it didn't throw up anything

Any ideas or tips will be greatly appreciated

Jason

Tried a different maf?

Dyagnostics guy said the maf was ok but could be playing up

My fabia pd100 had the same problem when I brought it, hence the reason for getting it for a decent price lol was pretty sluggish, and I know what the pd100 are like standard as my mum has one and the mrs has a pd100 mk4 golf

Anyway lol had a feeling it was the maf as it made no difference if it was plugged or unplugged and didn't throw up any fault codes for some reason, so changed the maf for the one off my mrs car and problem solved power and happiness restored lol

Leak or split on vacuum pipe?  If not that, then try cleaning the MAF using isopropyl based spray cleaner (you buy it as MAF cleaner) as could just be the MAF needs a clean.
