Beware - Just received an Oil Cooler with NO Gaskets or 'O' Rings

Featured Replies

I ordered a new EIS Oil Cooler from Europarts, there was NO mention that the Oil Cooler was NOT supplied with New 'O' rings, so I automatically assumed that it would be a complete kit to include two 'O' Rings - Like when you buy a new water pump it comes with a new gasket - So my job for tomorrow is now shelved and I will have to try and purchase elsewhere because they do not even list them on their website !!!

Should I have received two 'O' Rings with the Cooler ?

Or have other folk had the same problem.

Check that the box doesn't have a false bottom, with a separate compartment containing the o-rings.

A long shot, but I've been nearly caught out by that sort of thing once or twice, though not with this particular item to be fair.

Hi, no all it contains is a sealed polybag with the oil cooler in, no false bottom, no instructions - but I assume it's a straight forward job.

Just re-checked the packaging - The polybag is not sealed it's open, it has two blue end caps on the water pipes and ONLY one blue plastic plug in one of the two Oil openings. I think this is a 'robbed' box with parts missing.

I got an oil cooler for my daughters golf gti from eurocar parts and that didn't have any seals in it and it was sealed. They are available to

Buy seperately.

Nice easy job filter off 27mm bolt and some water pipes

Cheers Paul

The oil coolers need two seals, one on the top which sits around the top of the housing and has locating tabs, this is dealer part only and about £2

The bottom one is availible from euro car parts and is about £1. It's a shinny silver thick cut seal that sits inside the retaining housing.
