Just wondered out of interest which method of music storage do people use and any particular reason???

At the moment i use the HDD but must admit it was a bit of a pain the amount of time it took to transfer the music onto the HDD so toying with just buying a 32gb SD card. Also maybe less work for the HDD to do so maybe eeking more life out of it?

I always used the HDD in the Columbus of both previous Columbus equipped cars, yes it can be a pain copying to HDD but ones it done thats it. However I did loose the whole lot once with a firmware update, and had to copy it again.

it does not take long to copy if you start copying and then switch to the radio, as the drive does not have to do 2 things at the same time (play music from the source drive and copy music from it concurrently).

I use both. Between the HDD and the 32gb SD limitation I can get most of our music available. With a good class 10 card I haven't seen much performance difference.

Tend to use SD card only and have 2 setup to alternate between, and do updates and downloads.

I put albums on the HDD and an individual song playlist on the SD card.

I compile a 32GB SDHC chip with all my music as it can hold about 8,000 tracks and so is a lot less fiddly than changing CDs or DVDs.

Also, by saving the DVD reader for firmware and map updates only means that it is more likely to work and not be worn out or otherwise damaged.

No-brainer really when you think about it.

Any music goes onto the HDD, podcasts etc (things likely to be listened to once) I use the SD card.
