Thank you and goodbye

Just a little note to say thanks for all the advice over the last few months.

I bought my first Skoda (Octy Estate 1.8 TSI) a couple of months back. I won't bore you with the detail, but it wasn't a great experience (partly because of a main dealer!), and have now finally received most of our money back.

While the car and dealer didn't live up to their respective reputations, forum members were superb; always friendly, knowledgeable, courteous and never without a helpful perspective.  Thanks guys, you were a real help!

Picking up a Honda CRV tomorrow.  Sorry Briskodans, you are solid folk but I couldn't face any more!  ta ta for now.

Stick around on here! No need to move on just because you don't own a Skoda!

We have plenty of Audi Owners,

A BMW owner to remind us of how rubbish the Fabia mk1 vRS is compared to every other car!

And a clio owner (me) who makes you feel good about the fact your car isn't breaking down as much as mine :)

Haha, thanks Jack!  Maybe I will.  Glad you're maintaining the reputation of the French motor industry;-)

Was tempted by an A6 estate but didn't fancy the reliability issues.  Hoping Honda lives up to the rep, but will miss the performance of the Octy for sure.

Shame to see you go; and for those reasons.

But for sure stick around to review the Honda for us when it arrives... It would be great to get your thoughts on the new motor.

Good luck!

Honda is a safe move for reliability. Sounds good

Well, picked up the CR-V today and so far very pleased (apart from a balls up by the dealer - they all seem as bad as each other!)

It's not really fair to compare the Octy to this as they sit in different categories. I've never owned a 'crossover' before, and swore I never would! However, I've rather fallen for the CRV.

The overall build is very good indeed. Doors close with that satisfying clunk which seemed to be lacking with my Octy - more of a rattle than a clunk!

The drive is good. Nice positive steering and the handling is way better than you'd expect for this type of vehicle. I went for the 2.2 ctdi diesel. While clearly not a quick at the TSI Octy, there is stacks of torque low down which makes for a nice feel. It is a little like driving a small van I confess, but a very well engineered one which sticks to the road and is generally very satisfying.

Certainly worth considering as a left field alternative to an Octy estate for general family use.

I went from a VRS to an Accord Tourer... still here muttering from the sidelines. I've got a 2.2dTech

CRV very popular round my way. everyone seems to love theirs.

Hondas do seem very well put together, but the Japanese have some odd ideas about some things. I keep meaning to put up a review.
