How about a flat plastic plate across where the tray below the stereo is and mount them on that?

I would like a couple in my drivers side pillar eventually!

ive made a pod below the heater controls. nice and handy if yoy need to look at but not in your eye line personly do allot of night driving so like my eye line dim.

Could make a pod to sit above/behind the heater vents. Though IMO at that distance should really have 60mm gauges. Other places.... A pillar and/or steering column surround. You know, the mickey mouse ears types...
