Simpsons Motorsport Edition VRS

Featured Replies

Looks good. As mentioned by a couple, not a big fan of the wheels but each to their own :)

Out of interest, does anybody know what suspension/set-up they are using?

Paul

Eibach's I believe Paul. Another member on here (Moley) has had a quote for his impending vRS estate and they used the promo shots to show him how it would look.

My Stock Vrs has Suspention, wheels and Carbon Trim

  • This particular car is certainly a 'grey' area Insurance wise, it isn't a standard VRS, and insurers I'm sure won't have a Simpsons Motorsport vRS to give you a quote, so the probability is that if

Correct. I shall be having some Eibachs fitted at Simpsons soon after the car arrives. The offset on the aftermarket wheels give the special edition car a better look than I will have with my Xtreme 19" OEM wheels, but I'm loathed to mess about with spacers again.

Insurance questions aside, looks very nice.

Looks rather nice, not sure that the wheels suit it though.

But not sure it's worth the £1200 extra for just some springs, wheels and stick on stuff?

So i can answer the Insurance question now.

After talking to my insurers, as it comes from the dealership like that and is all carried out before registration, it is classed as a standard car with optional extras. So is covered as it is.

GAP Insurance is included in my deal, i think its a must TBH.

TBH I'm happy that all my warranty will be covered and i can have a "modified" so to say version of the car that won't interfere with anything.

Wheels - Im sure they will grow on me, wasn't keen at first but the offset makes them slightly more suited.

And the Carbon Wrap, its the roof, and splitters.

I'd agree, it does seem a bit steep

They look a bit like Team Dynamics Jade R wheels, which I think were put on a similar 'motorsport edition' white pre-facelift Mk2

I'm sure they also did the same with the FL, but I could be wrong on that one.

You could argue that you get the bigger wheels and that they are expensive but then they get the factory fit wheels to sell on. I like it but I just feel that for the money the front would be better if it was an actual bolt-on/glued part rather than sticky plastic.

My mistake......it was the facelift, pictured with Skoda driver Guy Wilks

bu**er me I was right...........must note in diary!!!

Hope you got a good price on it... GAP insurance through the dealer is not the way to go - it's invariably more expensive for less cover than you'll get with third-party products.

Just sayin'  :p

I think free is a good enough deal?

Think I've done alright based on the contribution and extras I managed to get thrown in. Seems a good enough deal anyway, in theory if you look at it like this then the £1200 doesn't seem as steep!

Having been there and done that with modifying my own daily drive, show and shine... Blah blah blah... I can't be arsed with it this time. I'm happy that I have a slightly modified standard car that stands out a little, and it does what I want it for - primarially towing my other car!

Agreed on the grand scheme of the mk3 Octavia £1200 is not a lot...........considering my ideal spec is £35k! :p

For ease and the fact it's covered under warranty it's not too bad but I still think an actual real splitter would be better for the money (but then I'm a tight git).

not a fan of the wheels but fair play mate

I'll go against the grain here - I think the wheels look brilliant.  They should be easy to clean too! If they swapped the roof wrap to mat black instead of "carbon" I think it would be nearly perfect! Very jealous...

  • 1 month later...

Any more detail on this car?

Does anyone know what the suspension mods actually are?  just springs? or damper too? coilovers?

Ditto the spec on the wheels.  Are they filling the arches better due to reduced offsets or spacers?

Like this a lot, Simpsons Colne are my local dealer, may have to go and have a chat...

Rob e.

No spacers required as the offset from the wheels sorts that. The suspension upgrades are a set of Eibach Pro Kit springs.

thanks moley, not really ground breaking mods then ..

any info on the wheels?  19"s i presume?  are they Jade Rs?

They are indeed

So a quick update, the car is at the dealers now, currently having its PDI and dealer fit accys fitted.

Due to work, I can't collect it until the 21st, although I'll get some photos up as soon as I get them.

From order to delivery, it has taken 10 weeks!

Looking forward to seeing her.

Just a note of caution if a spare is used as the TD wheels use 30 degree conical bolts unlike the VAG radiused ones.  Would mean carrying an alternative set of bolts unless you buy a cheap TD spare through their magikwheels ebay shop.

TD black centre caps should also be available which I think should complete the look given there's no chrome elsewhere.

My only other concern would be the longevity of the wrap on the front splitter as it's probably more prone to stone chips than elsewhere.  Easily rectified a least.

Nice car and a "grown up" version of what my Reaction aspires to be.

  • 2 weeks later...

That is a very nice looking Vrs. I think the colour is so nice.

I'm sure you cannot wait to collect it on Tuesday.

Love it. Can't wait to see some more pics once she's in your possession!
