Best Wire to Splice from for puddle lights?

Featured Replies

Hey guys I've been spending my overtime at work producing some wiring looms for puddle lights for the Fabia, so as a result have a nice aircraft grade setup made. I would like them to come on when the car is unlocked through the key fob as well as when the key is removed from the ignition, so in theory they would come on when the interior light does with unlock and key out, and then turn off when locked. So the idea was to splice from the same supply that provides the interior light.

However seems a long way for cable routing, im just wondering if there is a supply further down the car towards the front doors?

Cheers guys

Look for "Korban"s stuff.

Ive have browsed through it, however he has connected to the existing door light wiring, which i do not have, must be a VRS thing ha  :wall:

Have you checked inside the door?

The light fixture may not be there but the loom might still be inside.

I had a quick look when sealed them up the other week, but couldn't see anything stand out, I'll have a better look in the weekend if not, anyone else got any ideas ?

as thought the loom isnt present in the door card, looks like ill be routing it through the car!

You could use a relay then you only need to run a single wire down the A pillar, hook the relay to permanent live and the puddle loom and bingo.

Not a bad idea bud   lets see if i can steal a relay from work ha

dont forget to add a nice little fues to your perminant live on your relay. or you might end up with more of a glow than you expect one day ;)

dont know why but its shoxking the amount of relay related duck ups and bodge jobs you see in cars

Burning glow wouldn't be nice to see at all!, plenty of fuses at work so thats not a issue at all, now just need some spare time to rig it all up, bloody shift work takes all free time!
