Need advice on pd150 turbo

Featured Replies

So my kkk turbo went on the fabia the other night, decided to upgrade to a Garrett GT1749VB pd150 turbo from darkside, got it all fitted sweet, but wen I'm driving and get into or near boost(not putting my put hard down as still running it in) ther is a really loud noise like air is leaking, had all pipes off and can't see any problem :/ ANY1 help??

You have a boost leak, get it checked.

Running it in indeed!

Turbos brand new so shouldn't have any leaks? And had all pipe work off and checked it and can't see anything wrong wi it :/

Dude, a boost leak is not visible, you have a boost leak BECAUSE all the pipework has been off, it's nothing to do with the new turbo, it's because the crummy Skoda/VW pipes never go back together properly after they've been off.

You only need to check the high pressure side between the turbo and the intercooler and the intercooler and the plenum.

All pipes are tite and secure, really starting to annoy me now, sounds like an airplane when goin into boost!! Replaced all clips and put new jubilee clips on thes 1s wi no clips, HELP!!!!

If it is just a whistle when it is spooling up its relatively normal. If it is like a screeching noise and If you fitted the turbo yourself make sure all bolts on the inlet manifold and exhaust manifold are tight. Could also be a blown gasket.

Not a whistle or a screeching noise pal, it's a really really loud boost leak, like way louder then a normal boost leak, been over the engine today checked all bolts were tight, all pipes clips and seals, gaskets are fine and all brand new, even done the water and soap trick on all the joins and still nothing :/ can't think of owt else it could be

Is the pipe work all still original?

I'd hold off till then sounds like one of the billet connectors is worn. They are not very good connections from factory let alone 5+ years later!

Ye ya right ther bud ther ****e! Will get it done asap n post up the results :) cheers

Might be worth cable tieing all the pipes together to see if it at least reduces it. Made quite a improvement on mine
