no cruise control after battery change!

Featured Replies

my battery decided to just die on me the other day, and after having various tests done all the charging systems are fine but battery was goosed! so after fitting a new battery i have now noticed i have no cruise control. has anyone else heard of this happening?

You really need to get VCDS plugged in.

It's possible that one of the brake & clutch pedal switches have failed (common problem), which will disable cruise control.

The chances are the cruise control issue is not linked to battery not working and maybe faulty for some time.

Check brake light switch very common issue to stop cruise control from working.

+2... I just had to change the brake light switch after the cruise control stopped working, brake lights worked fine but cruise wouldn't... stuck it on vcds and sure enough brake light switch fault showed up

Ran vcds came up with something about engine speed exceeded warranty void! Reset it and cruise control worked, then stopped. Vcds again, found brake switch, reset and cruise control worked for about 20 miles. Then found I had no brake lights! Yet this evening brake lights r working again! New brake switch has been ordered.

That brake light switch can cause all sorts of problems.

I recently had my battery die in the same way as yours and my cruise worked fine
