Anybody please ?

I find that extremely hard to believe ! There is a speedo signal wire on the block for the stereo. Mine isn't connected to anything at the moment and has no impact on mine.

Although I was actually thinking of wiring it into my Pioneer speedo wire for more accurate signal (supposedly) although I haven't had any issues with either the speedo as a result of it disconnected, or my nav accuracy - so I haven't bothered yet.

Thanks that clears that one up.

Get it scanned on VCDS

Might be something like this ? You might need a new speedo sender....but I'd do some checks to establish that first

OK story so far: Bought PD 100 estate no engine donated my ATD hatch engine into estate > mint body low mileage. (Hatch dented all over very rough prev Cat C dodgy service history).  Estate now brill except no speedometer and drunken fuel gauge, changed sensor off hatch box as this worked before transplant. still nothing, changed instrument pod (charged down a hill ignition on no engine start as immobiliser kicked in as foreign pod off hatch.. still nothing).  Chap who did engine swap has all VCD's wizardry and is very experienced in all matters VW.  He could not make the speedo sweep with VCD's saying there's no signal from speed (distance) sensor. Therefore, I'm now fairly confident that as per the above link a wiring issue in the loom is the culprit. I'm waiting my neighbour getting me a wiring diagram he works  for VW.   (The hatch is now crushed probably being reincarnated into razor blades as we chat!). If I'd have realised the issue earlier I would have stripped the engine bay looms out of hatch, but sadly when I went back to breakers ("End of life recyclers") it had already met its end.
