Split pipe!

My car has been along some weird hissing sounds do i decided to investigate. I found a split pipe, it goes from the bottom of the inlet manifold to a green connector. Can anyone tell me what it's for and what impact it will car if i drive the car with out it. Its a 1.8t 150. There pics i the link.

It's commonly known as the S pipe, & is notorious for splitting. It's ok to run it like that as it's not an engine destroying problem, but the engine will run better if you replace it.

These have now been modded and are a braid reinforced design. (Well the last one i bought from Audi was).

Coolio, do you know how much it cost? I can get a silicone replacement for £20.

I just replaced mine. Was a tenner on eBay but was the same rubber hose it replaced

Around £27 from Audi but I get trade ;)

I replaced mine with the ebay ones. Should last long enough to not be my problem if they split again if you know what i mean
