Anyone tried one of these headlights? (eBay link)

Featured Replies

eBay item no; 121422425334

The above is described as 'SKODA FABIA RS 1999-2006 RH FRONT HEAD LAMP / LIGHT BLACK D2S/H7/

(Apologies for not posting an image, I don't know how to from eBay!)

Just wondered if anyone had any experience of them, and if they're are comparable to the DEPO lights often discussed (and if they are suitable for fitting HID bulb kits to)?

Any opinions will be gratefully received!!!

they probably are DEPO ones.

Thanks lee, guess I should ring them and ascertain the make

Still wondering if they are ok for a HID conversion...

They will be ok for hid conversion. Just make sure you don't get a eBay special hid kit. Get it from hids direct.

Already have he HIDS Danny, they're currently in SWMBOs car, but obviously in standard headlights; to me they look poor and I'm sure a projector headlamp assembly would give better lighting, as well as the aesthetic appearance.

I thought DEPOs were around £200 btw?

I've just fitted these exact headlights tonight, they are the DEPO units and look brilliant! I offered them £200 for a pair and they accepted.

I bought a 6000K D2S HID kit for £65 (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261379467841?var=560279102171&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649). Seems all OK so far, haven't driven the car yet but I'll get some photos early next week and upload onto here. Took me about 2 hours to fit, had to loosen off the bumper to get the bottom of the lights out. Easily done though, it's all plug and play and the beam adjustment still works as per the OEM units.

Will post a link here in the week with more details once I've done a write up.

Thanks for that my sleepwalking friend, I'll look forward to seeing the images!

They are a complete different bulb to go in the projector lights. May be a better option to get a new kit to go with the new lights. Yeah they are around £200 mark. Think there was a group buy not too long ago from someone called wingmirrorman.

As a quick update, ACE Car Parts just rang m, the price is £94.90 each (free p&p) and are DEPO brand.

So that's £189.80 for the pair, which is on par with the 'group discount' that has been previously available....

Do they have the black mask in them? The description says black, but the picture shows chrome...  A bit misleading and confusing!

Not sure Alex, I'll ring and clarify tomorrow

Cheers for that

Did you make any headway?

Apologies for the slow response in getting these photos up, just haven't had time to get my camera out on her yet. I'm fitting a splitter on Thursday, so will make sure I get some shots then and will either put up Thursday night or Friday.

Quick note – I started panicking after fitting as the indicators weren't working. All it was, was the bulbs weren't a good fit in the new indicator bulb holders, so I ended up swapping them for the holders off the original lights and worked perfectly! So panic over.

Also worth noting that neither the DEPO lights or the HID kit I bought had anything to fit the ballasts onto the back of the lights. I ended up using some strong double-sided sticky foam and its worked perfectly. Has really transformed the front of the car, can't wait to get the splitter on!
