So I'm back from my two week holiday, before which I agreed a 'provisional' delivery date of tomorrow for my long awaited VRS which I ordered in January.

 

My car was held up on the freight train crash in Germany before I went away and the dealer was expecting it in while I was away so booked a 64 reg. I call him this morning and the car is still not in and he doesn't know when it will be!

 

To say I'm p***ed off is an understatement. Has anyone else had a delay due to the train crash? Apparently quite a few cars were written off including VW's.

I hadn't heard but you have me worried now as mine is on its way as of last week. What was the date of the crash?

Not heard about it myself, but looking at the silver lining at least your car wasn't on the crashed train......otherwise it might have been damaged.

It was reported on here (the crash) and someone else's car was apparently on it although weirdly the train was heading in the opposite direction to here.

The crash would have been at least 3 weeks ago so hopefully yours was not involved in that, mine was build week 29

That train was carrying containers from the middle of West Germany via Southwest Germany to Hungary. I can't really see how this would have delayed any Skoda delivery to the North coast. 

Although, you got to give some credit to the dealer...at least it's an excuse we haven't heard before.

My car is due Thursday. ..or Friday. .. but maybe next week :/

But I need it for this week...

Update from dealer this morning, car now at Emden awaiting shipping to Grimsby. Just need a boat load now, literally!

Looks like another couple of weeks then, still not holding my breath.

Mine got on a boat today! Not to run it in or anything
