Yeti Strange Noise - Help?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have a 2010 4x4 DSG 140 desiel which has now covered 17,500 miles and due it's first long life service in another 1200 miles.

I have noticed what could be described as a squeaky noise which is evident at low speed (5-20mph) as you come off the throttle quickly. The noise only lasts a second or two which sounds something is disengaging in the form of a squeaking noise.

The noise can be heard if you rock the throttle I.e quickly off throttle and back on the throttle...and repeat.

I certainly don't recall this when I had the car new and perhaps this noise started after 10k....but can't be sure exactly. But it's now more obvious.

Also the temperature appears to impact. During the colder weather temperatures, the noise would not occur until the car was properly warmed up. However in summer the car does not need to be warmed up and it makes this noise.

I'm going to mention this on my first service, but wondered if anyone has had this issue and could advise?

Firstly is this even normal? If not, any ideas what the problem is?

Many Thanks,

Hung

Can't help with the noise, but shouldn't a 2010 car have had it's first 'long life' service in 2012 at the latest ?

1st service after 4 years? Long life services are 20,000 miles or 2 years, but if you've only done that mileage in 4 years you should be on fixed service intervals and had 4 services done by now.

Sorry I meant to say 2012....:)

If it's a 2012, isn't it still under warranty? Skoda dealer will fix it-no worries!

Quite agree.

Yup it's under warranty and that's not the issue. I just wanted to know if others have experienced this particular issue and know of it? And can advise on what this is to help direct the dealers appropriately.

Cheers,

Im not sure if this issue is telated to DSG models. But can anyone confirm if they experience this issue whether they have dsg, 4x4, desiel or petrol versions....or any combo of these?

If it helps, mine doesn't have this squeak - 2WD Diesel Manual.

Thanks.....have a suspicious feeling it maybe related to DSG models perhaps?

Any DSG folk out there who could shed some light on this one?

Not a noise I have noticed on my 12,000 miles DSG car - and I am VERY squeak/rattle obsessed so I'm sure I would have heard it if it were there.

That said, I'll keep an ear out next time I use the car and try the on/off throttle procedure to see if I can reproduce it.

I have tried to reproduce the sound on mine... and I cannot get mine to do it - which I'm pleased to report.

Just an update.

Got the car back yesterday and they appear to have fixed the issue! No more squeaks. They said an adjustment was made on the throttle cable? Something about these not being positioned correctly and that they lubricated them...

So now no more squeaks and all is good.

Had my first variable service at 18k, brake fluid changed for about 240 quid.

Also got the rear skoda badge, wheel cap badges replaced and free v9 maps update.

Thanks,

Hung
