VRS - Towbar Preperation

£450 is a decent price if you are getting the Westfalia removeable towbar and a genuine wiring kit all coded in.

I was quoted £430 by my local dealer for a genuine towbar, but Lease company organised the towbar through the supplying dealer for the same price, but the fitter used a bypass relay instead of the correct module and wiring. Hopefully being all sorted in the morning.

I cannot find where to set Byte 1 of the Trailer control module to 01 - Trailer connector diagnosis active. My module has no long coding helper for this Byte, so no where to select the correct value? Any ideas.

I've also added a pdf that can be printed and used when coding, which is better than going back and forward to the web browser.

What version of VCDS are you using?

You can manually edit the binary and change the last digit from a 0 to a 1

Hello, sorry for refloat this old post...

I've recently installed a towbar unit to my Octavia 5E 2013 with a dedicated electrics 13 pin kit. The specific CAN controller module is from Erich-Jaeger manufacturer, http://www.ahk-autoteile.de/moto/instructions/jaeger/748503.pdf

I followed the steps in this thread with VCDS 12.12.3 but I encounter the following problems/results:

1> CAN gateway - Enable 69-Trailer OK

2> BCM - Controller 09 - Enable Byte 1 Bit 1 - Trailer Hitch control module installed> Seems OK but after check this byte not saved and ever remain 0.

3> Engine Enable Byte 5 Bit 4 - Trailer installed > Seems OK but after recheck changes not fixed, remain off.

4> ABS - Adaptations - change Vehicle & Trailer Stabilisation to Activated> OK active and saved.

5> Trailer - Byte 3 - Choose the appropriate option Ok,

6>Tráiler Byte 1 - Set to 01 - Trailer connector diagnosis active. Changed OK to 01, but later trying to undo is impossible to reverse to 00...not save changes.

I dont have Parkassist,or alarm, the towbar is fixed not removable.

log of the module:

Address 69: Trailer (J345)       Labels: 5Q0-907-383.clb
   Part No SW: 5Q0 907 383     HW: 5Q0 907 383

Why Engine and BCM dont save the settings for trailer? How to know if all -specially ABS.ESP.TCP- works for trailer?

Can provide more details upon request.

Thanks in advance.
