Towbar fitter and coding - anyone contemplating, read this!

Featured Replies

Ok I know its been done to death, but bought a Westfalia bar and dedicated 7 pin electrics from PF Jones, excellent deal, they then arranged fitting by a mobile fitter, he duly arrived Monday afternoon, fitted, wired, and coded in 2 hours - the loom is accepted by skoda apparently, he had a Westfalia electronic box, plugged it into the OBDC socket switched it on and in 3 mins coded, had a faux trailer plate, plugged it in and perfect! Cost around £400 all in inc bar etc!

Now to the point of this, asked if he was tied to Jones, no a privateer,so his price is probably cheaper than that I paid Jones!

He gave me a card, based in or around Derby and works all over England - he's off to Cornwall next week with calls en route!

Anyone interested pm me or I'll mount his details

Update -- just returned a la frog with my Marlin in tow on an 'A' frame, electrics worked perfectly!!

Jones workshop in Manchester sorted out my improperly installed hardware for a 13 pin socket and then coded. It has worked perfectly for the last four years. Good to see that they are still doing a grand job. The best advice I can give is to fit a 7pin socket  - not 13 !!

Good news Tony. Glad it all got done correctly.

Geordie, 13 pin are much better than the old 7 pin; more secure and the electrical connections seem to give much less resistance and are more weather proof.

Thanks Graham for clarification My comment was very misleading The 13 pin I now have is brilliant and my comment about preferring 7 pin relates to the considerable aggravation I had when dealers 4 years ago had no idea about 13 pin. Things have improved -  mostly :D
