vRS dummy exhaust outlet question

Featured Replies

Good day all

Can anyone tell me if the vRS dummy exhaust outlets are steel /chromed or S/S? Either way they don't look very good quality!!

I have been thinking of have them stripped and power coated/ heat treated - either gloss black or candy white to match my paintwork.

Look forward to your advise on maybe what I should do next!!

Steve

  • Hi guys This has been a long time coming, but my plans have all come together at last. Hope the photo worked!! Never posted a photo before!! If it has you may notice that BOTH outlet are used!!!

  • Hi guys Just to update you with some additional fitting pics:- Steve

  • They came off easily just some narrow space to release the 4 bolts from the end tip.

I think they are chromed metal but just stuck onto the bumper.

My guess is Skoda wouldn't stretch to the cost of stainless steel ones but I may be wrong.

Somebody on the forum has painted theirs black, looked pretty good to me.

Thanks

Yes my guess on looking at them that they are cheep steel, poorly finished and chromed!!

As I am planning on having an exhaust fabricated so that both sides not dummies.

Option 1 - do I get the dummies refinished in black or white and fabricated into the new exhaust

Option 2 - go for something different - Maybe 2 round outlets each side. (in S/S ) i.e. going for the AMG look would this work?

Look forward to your advice on where I go from here.

Thanks and please give me your options - good or BAD

Many thanks

Steve

The exhaust ends are stainless steel (not magnetic)

I plastidipped the ends, no problem with the heat for 3 months now.

Mine are stainless steel.

Di they come off easily enough or did you do them in situ?

Thanks

Couple of manufacturers are about to release a twin outlet system for the 'oilers', might save you some grief?

I know what you are where you are coming from. But I suspect they will just butt up to the dummy exhaust outlets, rather than new ones!

Steve

Yep, think you're right there.

So yours is gonna be the full monty then?

Will that's what I would like!

Sorry to say that I have a bit of an exhaust fetish! Which is why I bought the vRS, but finding that both out let's were dummies did not go down well! I do like the shape of the dummies, but they don't seem to be of very good quality. Which is why I am wondering where I go next. This is the reason for tis post on the forum, to ask for options of all those out there?

Steve

In terms of asthetics I think they look good in black as I've seen on another post which sounds like a relatively simple dip job. Might do it to mine, when I eventually get the car!

I pulled in the petrol station behind a vrs and had immediate exhaust envy. So they are fake, then? Feel better now

I wonder if they had folding mirror envy when they spotted the Elegance?

There was something on a German forum showing how somehow had blackened the exhaust itself it on the vRS TDI rather than the tips and it looked really good. You couldn't see the dual pipes on the left hand side so gave the effect the tips were real.

Might have been plasti dipped. I'm site there was a thread on here about it.

Can't find it at the moment.

Hi all

Just to make my case - I HATE HAVING DUMMY EXHAUSTS OUTLETS!!

I want working outlets!!

Plan A - use chromed/ SS outlets, connected to a custom made dual exhaust system

Plan B - reuse the outlets in either black or white , connected to a custom made dual exhaust system

Plan C - an AMG look, twin outlets both sides, connected to a custom made dual exhaust system

Look forward to your options

Steve

Got the perfect thing for you

Plan B is my preference in black. Plan C will look too aftermarket IMO and therefore a bit chav.

if mine wasnt a company car I'd go for a bespoke exhaust system as well but refuse to spend that kind of money (at least a few hundred quid) on something I dont own.

What do you take me for?

A couple years ago, when I built my show Saxo with Lambo doors, maybe!!

But that was few years ago.

PS, I am now retired, and have been for 8 years. So I am no Chav.

Steve

Wasn't a chav thing :) just a jest

You could always go for this instead which is pure class

Getting better!

Trying to work out how I can get that to work, may get in the way of the doors!

I am still thinking about plan A, B or C. Don't think plan D would get passed the police or the MOT testers.

Weld the doors shut, just get in an out dukes of hazard style!

Good day all!

Now this is getting silly!!

All I wanted of people's options, on what would look good.

Having spent a lot of my money on my dream transport, I like to tinker with it to look different to the standard car. Without going over the top. Andy and lawrelu - know you are only trying to make me look silly.

But I have bought 3 Skoda's this year, for me and the boss, for cash!!

I would like options, as I am sure that I am not the only one who is very disappointed!!

Never mind, back to France tomorrow, - piece and quite and a few glasses of wine!! (Which is why I invested my cash in the vRS)

Good even all

Why not approach a custom exhaust place such as LongLife and see what options they can do for you in stainless or chrome to fit?

BTW - they have some even sillier (and chavier) photos on their website!
