Had My Fabia Rica'd

Featured Replies

Chip tuning ltd had my car all day yesterday. They had it on the rolling road tweaking away at the ECU. The result is breathtaking. I haven't got all the figures from the rolling road, but it has 160hp at the wheels and a fantastic level of torque from 2000-5000 rpm.

They love their diesels, but they can chip anything so I was well impressed with the set up, and thanks to me spending a decent wedge in the past on my Volvo they looked after me lots............

Based in Bromsgrove, recommended.

So how does it compare to your mate's Revo'd car that you could keep up with when yours was in standard form? :D

I will definatly be swaping keys at the first opportunity. I only got back from Birmingham at 7pm so haven't had a chance to meet with my chum. However if anyone is free saturday come along to Donnington where i will be doing some track time in it: http://www.tunergp.co.uk/

Good on yer for going a different route...to the usual.... Andy.

You've had good experience of the company's work before and were pleased....if you have a good relationship with a tuner, there's no reason to change.

Let us know you're impressions when you get some time.

Think it was these people who tried to remap my old 1.2 clio. But they had problems reading the ecu. Anyway while I was their I had they compare my Pipercross Viper against the standard airbox on the rollers. Needless to say I'll just stick to panel filters now.

Nice people.

Do you know what sort of boost pressure you are now running?

Good on ya Andy!

How much did the remap cost, if you don't mind me asking?

I got a reasonable discount ;) but it is good value at

I would expect the boost would have been increased to around 1.6bar, maybe even 1.7bar. This seems to be a safe limit for the VNT17.

Sounds nice. I'm going to be interested to see what my turbo boost is at standard & remapped. Not sure why boost guages for TDIs have never been done regularly? If its good for a 1.8T its good for a tractor too. :P

Sounds good, i hope you enjoy it. Did you get a RR readout for your stock power?

I got just under 100 whp - but no print out, just what i saw on screen.

Just looking at their rolling road info - seems quite a good setup they have there. So assuming your transmission losses are about the same before and after remap, you'd be looking at a before flywheel figure of 125-130bhp :D

Hmmm, and they also tune the Mondeo TDCI lump .... will have to drop them an e-mail

Std PD130 runs 1.35bat of boost. Seen remapped ones going to 1.9bar (peak)

I want my car to have more bat boost :thumbup:

I think it's because the way diesel engines work but I am not 100% on that.

Hopefully I'll get two complete bats of pressure. :P

I have a PDF of power only with no rpm !

The power results are at the wheels - my WHP before the map was over 130 hp !!!!

Nice to see you've done something different too. It often pays to try different places than the 'usual'...

Yep, diesels have pretty stable boost once they go on boost - a gauge would just show the needle going up and staying there. So they don't usually bother to fit them.

Not from what I've seem ;)

Boost will peak @ around 2K rpm, drop down slightly & level off, & then gradually drop off @ around 4k rpm.

Typical plot of boost pressure.

2 Points Andy:

How much extra insurance?

What about the warranty?
