General Car Chat section being used regularly now for Skoda Technical Questions.

Featured Replies

I know i am petty, and i just do not need to open a thread and read it.

But when looking in General Car chat, i do find annoying the Skoda Specific Technical Posts .

It does seem to be getting more common recently.

The mods do try to move them!

So it's the general car chat for Skoda VAG and any other marque section, as per header but you've not to ask general Skoda questions here. Me no understand what the problem is.

Maybe long term members should know where the sections are for the likes of what bulbs for a yeti? I understand new members getting the sections mixed up.

There's nothing much that can be done apart from telling them! People make mistakes! That's life!

People make many mistakes, me most often.

I understand General chat including Skodas.

But Yeti Modifications. and technical questions seems to becoming prevelent in this section.

All we can do is keep telling them and the mods keep moving!

I've asked a bulb question but aimed at ALL Skoda owners to see if anyone across all the models had experience of them.

Not how to fit them,

Not type numbers

It's not model specific question

So not a technical question related to a specific but the whole Skoda range, I'd say that's pretty general!

But if that post is the only grump you've got, as the poster states these lamps are NOT just fitted to Yeti's and is asking opinions from any other model owners. Still can't see the problem.

Its a Skoda forum was posted in a Skoda discussion I see no issue as it covers many vag cars

Exactly, in fact should this post not have been put in the forum issues section not in general car chat.

Another forum I frequent has recently created a shed load of sub fora specific to tiny fragments of the membership. Now I only bother to read the specific fora of immediate interest and must be missing out on the serendipity of discovering something interesting about something I don't normally.

Seems a big retrograde step. I'd have one big pot and chuck everything in, because there are ways of filtering, if you really don't want to expand your horizons.

A much more serious complaint is the silly topic titles some folk come up with. No wonder those of us with zero memory left can no longer find anything in a search.

If I consider a thread is put in an inappropriate section I simply report it to the Mods and let them decide where it should be.

I suspect that there are a lot of threads that end up wrongly positioned simply because people are too lazy to look elsewhere on the Forum.

Im glad you arent a mod George!

Im actually concerned about this threads illegibility to be in the 'general car chat' section.

Its not chat about a car in general.

Its a rant about the forum.

Incorrect posting location IMO.

Hmm. Ironic.

This^^^

I was going to make a meme for the meme thread but my phone...it say no!

On topic I understand what the OP is saying but its not that frequent and it doesn't really hurt as some people might no forray into the model specific forums, spot the thread in general and think ooo I'd never thought of that!

Are the forum police out once more ? This forum by its nature is global due to its popularity with not only vag marque but with all marques, its a fantastic forum and hopefully will always be so.

Maybe some of us are a little lazy and post stuff where it's not suppose to be, some on the other had may have other issues ( medical or otherwise ) who may not be able to join the dots, I find it difficult at times as where to place a new thread sometimes and I've been here years, if your thread is in the wrong place the mods are great they will move it , I know it can be frustrating to some people threads in the wrong place I should know as I'm one doing it :) , I'd rather someone posted a thread rather than not posting due simply because they don't want to be roasted by the forum police
