Tidied up a mate's Fabia this weekend.

Featured Replies

Afternoon everyone,

A mate of mine picked up a 53 plate Fabia vRS the other week and I've given it a bit of a detailing session to liven up the paintwork a bit, thought I'd do a little write up of what I did and used and share some photos with you.

So, the process was as follows:

  • Rinse with pressure washer.
  • Foamed with Ultimate Snow Foam, left to dwell.
  • Rinsed.
  • Washed with 2BM, with Dooka Wash Pad and Meguiars Shampoo Plus.
  • Rinsed.
  • Carpro TRiX applied, left to dwell then agitated.
  • Rinsed.
  • Clayed with G3 mitt.
  • Rinsed.
  • Dried.
  • Polished with DAS6 Pro using CG Hexlogic Green pad and Scholl S17+, plush microfiber used after polishing each panel.
  • Polished again, this time with CG Hexlogic White pad and Nanotech Supergloss, again using a plush microfiber after polishing each panel.
  • Sealed with GTechniq C2v3.

So that covers the process for the paint, I did a few other bits too:

  • Removed the seats.
  • Shampoo'd the floor carpet.
  • Machine washed the mats.
  • Replaced seats with my old ones, recently shampoo'd (they've barely been used and were available as I've just replaced them).
  • Treated all interior plastics with AG Vinyl & Rubber Care.
  • Polished exhaust with Autosol & microfiber/wire wool.
  • Removed existing Skoda & vRS badges from front grille and tailgate, cleaned surfaces and replaced with fresh badges from the dealership.

So, now for the photos. If all goes to plan the first few will be before/after shots, then a few shots of the car from different angles, then finally a few shameless reflection shots. The light was low as its a little grim today, so I don't think the photos do it justice. Still, looks great for an eleven year old car in my opinion. I spent 8.5 hours in total to do all this, again not bad for me. Hopefully my mate will be pleased with it! Anyway, here we go...

If its sunny tomorrow, I'll take a few more and post them up. I'm really happy with the results anyway. As always, your comments and advice are most welcome. Thanks for looking.

Very well done. I think tidied up is an understatement tbh.

You clearly know what you are doing and I hope your friend realises just how much effort has gone into this.

Top top job.

I'd buy it if I was looking for one.

I will echo Carl's sentiments - "tidied-up".... bit of an understatement i think!!!  ;)

Wow - awesome work mate and superb results for sure.

Nice detail in the pictures showing the improvements you made especially on the paint.

Stunning mate - i guess your mate is pretty chuffed with the results too!

Thanks for sharing

Great work Clarky lad! Amazing difference. You've every right to be pleased with what you've accomplished there. We'll have a play on my octavia before the winter.

Well done & good write up. Nice to see you spent a few extra minutes taking before & after pictures. It shows you have made an improvement to the paint, rather than just posting pictures of a clean car. Keep up the good work.

Looks amazing. Like the before and after shots.

Again, tidied up is an understatement.

Great job Clarkey

Nice skills and technique in evidence
