Banana Musa Review

Featured Replies

Having received a bottle of Mad Cows Banana Musa in a recent special offer purchase I needed a donor wheel to try it out on. I was highly skeptical at the Mad Cow claim of a waterless wheel cleaner. The instructions: spray agitate and wipe off. Luckily the missus Yaris is one poor abused machine, so bad I struggle to gain motivation to detail it, worse still since she has bounced it off multiple walls recently.

Here is the wheel 27042F70-6CD4-4BCE-87C7-F157B2D53D53-469

I was pretty impressed, from filthy to a really good finish on all but the sections of wheel that were either damaged or had such deep embedded old brake dust they will require an acidic wheel cleaner and iron-x

Not really my sort of product - but looks like it does what it says on the tin!  ;)

Then finished the wheel

This was all done in a few minutes and Pics taken on iPhone but if it doesn't show the wax protection left a really nice finish on the wheel. If this was a previously protected wheel this would be a great product for a quick clean up in particular this should be in anyone's kit if going to a show, right alongside ONR and a good QD.

Oops..... jumped the gun on my first post - but the 50/50 picture showed a great result!

You will note I didn't test on my car Steve :)

It was one I was very skeptical about but I stand by my conclusion that on a previously protected wheel you are unlikely to cause any harm if using this with correct technique and could provide a good solution for a quick tidy up.

I ended up with this almost by mistake as bought in a kit and I thought it was a traditional non acid wheel cleaner.

Sorry Steve, must take your first answer

The wheel face tells the story best of all, it came up amazing.

These wheels are completely unloved.

Shows the value of a good 50/50 though when reviewing. It highlights how bad the wheels were to start.

I took a vid of me working with a Valet pro large detailing brush agitating the Banana Musa on the wheel and it really melted the brake dust and when buffing I felt no drag or scratch at all it just felt crazy slick like a QD.

Not particularly economical as I loaded up on spray to make sure it was well lubed and you need one mf per wheel. But a bit if a surprise this one. Maybe the purists will turn their noses up (I expect they will) but I'm going to keep this one in the locker especially for meets and shows.

Tell me about it..... SWMBO's alloys are in a similar state.

Had the car 13 months and every alloy now kerbed.... absolutely brutal!  :x

Looks pretty decent mark.

Be interesting to see how it holds up. But for people who don't clean cars very often I'm sure they would think it's the bees knees.

It gets good reviews on their website so can't all be bad mate, and like you said a pre treated alloy and you should be fine.

Looking forward to your review on the UV qd from mad cow. (Will I be in trouble or not?) Lol

Interesting that you get a QD like finish at the end of the process!

Perhaps not a perfect base for BSD - what do you think?!?

I don't really see it as that Carl, I intentionally have it the worst possible task to see how it cleaned and what removal was like with extra heavy dirt to lift. As you can see on really really grotty wheels it is not a deep clean treatment although I was impressed how much it lifted. It isn't a dedicated sealant either it just leaves behind a carnauba dressing. So a waterless all in one.

I see it as a quick tidy up product for people who keep on top of their car, again I see show use as the best application, the car is mint but you can safely clean up brake dust from the drive.

It clearly has a lot of lubrication in the formula to encapsulate the dirt and the microfibre does the rest lifting and gathering the suspension off the alloy. It felt like removing wiping a QD and as said above it leaves a carnauba shine behind.

I think on a presealed wheel this could be a great base for BSD.

Fair enough mate.

I did the passenger wheel so I might do the drivers side with AB Very Cherry, Envy Iron Awe (best iron contam I have tried), AB Just the Tonic to lift any tar and a wash, just to see if the equally bad drivers side comes up much better. A control wheel if you will!

Sounds a good idea.

My wife's anapurnas polished alloys are looking shocking now she's curbed them so many times, at the moment we have 3 cars and it's not easy keeping up to 3 of them. So I will wait for your final verdict it may work out easier for me. #3cars=tiredout

Fair enough mate.

I was skeptical Carl that it was a gimmick or another showroom Shine type product that promises results but would leave swirls etc

I think it is a real deal product, just need to use it for the right job, the test above doesn't represent it's use as I see it, or at least that's what I was trying to say.

If we can meet up next weekend I'll bring it with me.

Yeah sure mate, I have all your items set aside and ready for you.

And I'll have kettle boiled waiting for you too.
